Went there a fee weeks ago, ordered a Sunbeam blonde ale which I usually drink at my local and was pleased to see it in a pub in Birmingham as the choice is usually lacking. When the guy at the bar pulled it I noticed it wasn't as pale as usual but just took the pint away anyway. Upon the first sip I could tell it didn't taste right so took it straight back to the bar. The two bartenders then just told me 'thats how it's meant to be' even though I've been drinking it for years and only wanted to change to something else without kicking up a fuss. Basically got told no chance and quite rudely if I'm honest it was quite humiliating since I'd drank so little the pint was full and I'm not usually one to complain but it was undrinkable. They just kept staring they couldn't do anything for me which I accepted straight awat but left me feeling very awkward and isolated. Very rude staff not giving me a second to explain how I knew it wasn't correct even with photos of other pints of sunbeam which were a completely different colour.
I used to go here regularly but with such a high turnover of staff I suppose it's hard to train so many people non stop without having dips in service, just very disappointed by how the...
Read moreHow the great have fallen. I haven’t been here in a few years since Island Bar shut. I was so shocked by the level of service or lack of. The place smelt like damp and musk and was nearly empty. We sat down opposite the second bar where the ales were and my friend got served but the girl on the bar (light coloured hair and glasses) didn’t take an order from me and just turned around with her back to us on her phone in the middle cupboard. I waited and waited, another girl walked past and served someone on another bar. She then went and got her coat and walked off. There was a man fiddling with the till on the other bar and I still didn’t get served so I went to the small bar and asked the girl who ignored me earlier where I can get served. She said someone will serve me. The man turned around and said he’d be with me in a moment which he did and was the first person there to show any sort of service even if he was just asking questions like from a book. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a bar with such awful service and miserable people. The vic used to be a fun and friendly place, such a shame. Bitter n twisted what the...
Read moreOK pub. 1 star because they did nothing to stop an elderly creep from touching and being rude to a female friend of mine and my girlfriend as people left the pub at closing. I alerted staff to his creepy behaviour, yet the bouncer didn't even seem to talk to him. In the end, a member of staff who I believe worked behind the bar briefly had a chat. However, this was evidently not his job and he had other matters to attend to. I am incredibly disappointed that the bouncer completely failed to handle the situation and left almost immediately. It is surely the priority of all bars to ensure the safety of women in and outside their premises. Yet both my friend and my girlfriend were abandoned to an unsafe man. As no staff did anything to help, I had to tell the man to go away. This risked only escalating matters as I am merely another member of the public and had no real authority in the situation. I had no desire to get involved, yet it was made necessary by the...
