There is nothing to describe what we ate. I haven’t tasted any burgers as good as the one I had from Bonehead. I just remembered starting eating it and feeling that it was quick, and I wanted more. The chicken was juicy andI can taste the hotness in the buffalo sauce. The blue cheese gave its tanginess. The buffalo fries were excellent, but I thought the Nashville fries tasted better. The waffle fries with the platter were okay, but still, I would prefer the Nashville fries.
We went for the tender strips and wings platter. We chose the hothead sauce for the strips and the dragon for the wings. I can’t describe the hothead sauce. It was amazing and hot; nothing beats this sauce. Hence next time, I will try the hothead burger. The wings with dragon sauce were good, but I still prefer the strips. The two dips complemented the dish, where we ordered the comeback and ranch. The comeback dip was better than the ranch, and only get the ranch sauce if you feel the food is hotter.
I haven't tried the lizard king burger, but my brother enjoyed it and said it was the best chicken burger he ever had.
We also ordered the ciders, and they were fruity and sweet taste.
Finally, it should be noted that the queue is massive, there were no pre bookings before, so you have to turn up and wait. The place was pretty much packed, as I heard they said waiting was 2 hrs for a couple. Luckily there were 3 of us, and we only had to wait for 20 mins. But the wait was worth it, and I will queue again to...
Read moreSo I was recommended to go here from another chicken lover. Arrived first I was told there was no tables upstairs and was invited to sit downstairs on one of the free large tables downstairs. I ordered wings however the spicy sauce it comes with is mayo based i asked to switch it out for regular hot sauce. In the time it took me to place my order, two girls came in and sat down at the only free table. The guy did ask them to move to one side, but I really didn't want to share as I wanted a table to myself. I then switched my order to take out. Shortly after a couple came in and was given table by one of the girls working the floor upstairs however no customers had come downstairs. I queried this as I was told there was none, yet it seems one became free why was it not offered to me the communication needs improving. I got a seat right by kitchen didn't like the seat but it was a table, my chicken wings came out with the spicy mayo i specially said I didn't want due to allergies. The kitchen messed up and lucky for me I didn't take it all the way home to be disappointed. That been said the staff are all very friendly, the wings were refunded and replaced which is very very rare for most food places, and i was offered another drink. Unfortunately the chicken was greasy, sat in little pools of excess oil so one side just over loaded with grease. Apparently they add additional oil mix after frying the chicken, yet its not described as such on the menu or told especially as I said I'm new here. I was again offered alternatives e.g strips which was nice but at this point i was fully disappointed with my experience and taste. I have had and can make better fried chicken so this will be my first and last visit. I'm in the Uber now heading to the person who recommended me we need to have a conversation as I wasn't impressed. 3 stars are for the customer care and service after they messed the food order and potentially put me at risk due to the kitchen not following very clear...
Read moreI've known of this place for a while, but always dismissed it as most fried chicken restaurants in Birmingham these days are haallal and I thought this one would be too. I was delighted to find out it wasn't and I had to check it out! I've since told a lot of my Sikh friends and family about it too.
I visited on a sunday lunchtime, and luckily there were tables available. We were given the choice to sit either downstairs or upstairs, and my wife chose the latter.
You definitely can't miss the metal vibe when you walk in, lots of black paint and band paraphernalia as decor. It's not really my thing in general, but it was nice and different. Their staff were very welcoming and provided good service.
As it was my first visit, I felt I should go for the original Bonehead burger. It was a tough choice as so many other options looked delicious, but there's always next time. From the beers they had on, I went for a ⅔ pint of Wylam Jakehead IPA. I finished my order with a side of Waffle Fries to share. My wife ordered the Veghead burger with Peach homemade iced tea.
The coating and seasonings on the juicy chicken thigh in my burger were superb. The crazy part is, I reckon their other burgers will be better than this. I'll have fun finding out, as well as trying the wings and pieces menu items. The waffle fries were nicely seasoned with the perfect texture you'd want.
Their policy of not accepting pre-bookings is going to be a problem for me now, because this would be the perfect place for my family to congregate on my daughter's upcoming birthday! That said, I will be back for a walk-in very...
