Bad service, bad food.
Having previously been here once for a drink with a friend we decided to try lunch. What a mistake we won't be making again.
Upon arrival, we were waiting 5 minutes before someone even acknowledged us to show us to our table. Pretty big no no in a restuarant which charges what this does. The male bar staff memeber on duty was rude and brushed me off with a temper when I asked if anyone was coming to greet us. Get some manners please.
We eventually got seated and ordered. The menu here is frankly just odd. It's quite clear to see that it doesn't know what type of cuisine it's going for and therefore has no identity, so just squats generically across all cuisines - Italian, British, even Spanish. It splashes some foreign words here and there to confuse you and mix it up a little. It doesn't work, and is just wrong. Management take note.
It didn't take long for the food to arrive and it was easy to see why. The chicken was bland, uninspiring and lacking any kind of flavour or seasoning. Pro tip kitchen folks - Don't label something as Piri Piri sauce when in fact it's tomato ketchup and has literally zero spice. What made matters worse was when my friend found bones in hers. Audacious considering the prices and then with the 12.5% service charge added on.
What made the whole experience 10x worse was all the staff here seeemed thoroughly miserable and like they didn't want to be there at all.
It's a shame as the venue itself is quite nice. However, avoid this place if you want a decent meal. There are far better places in and around Clifton with better service, and staff that are actually friendly...
Read moreI go to Coppa every now and then as itâs a nice place in general. However, I went out for few drinks with my partner on a Saturday ( we didnât dine there this time) and one of the waiters spilled the drinks all over us, my shoes, my partners trousers, my coat⌠it wouldnât be that big of a deal, after all itâs not the end of the world. But how it was handled was very poor and unacceptable. The waiter did apologise but then he said, Iâll get you free drinks because he spilled them. Bear in mind that we already paid for those drinks that he spilled so he only replaced them. When I went to claim those free drinks we were offered as an apology for our soiled clothes, they said that we got free drinks already, even though I explained we paid for them. He said that you paid for the spilled drinks, we served you new drinks that you didnât paid for so you got them for free and that they canât offer âanotherâ round for free. I think anyone would agree that if a waiter spills drinks while serving that you already paid for, then replacing those drinks isnât for free, since we paid for them. I now need to get my coat to dry cleaners cause it has Prosecco all over it. I donât know what COPPA thinks customer service is but the least you could have done is to offer actual free drinks as an apology or offer the dry cleaning service for clothes you have spilled those drinks on. Customer service is clearly not on a Coppaâs Staff priority list, you will pay for dinner or drinks even if it ends up all over your clothes...
Read moreDisappointing visit to Coppa Club this Sunday evening, made all the more so as it was my daughtersâ birthday. Incidentally I could see theyâd noted that on the booking , but it wasnt mentioned in any way.
Service was slow - we were there for a good 20m before anyone took our drinks order - there was no apology or acknowledgement of the wait. It kind of felt like the grown ups had gone out leaving the kids in charge: it was very hard to flag anyone down, Drinks were forgotten, orders not checked back and on the way out one of the waitresses bumped me as she jumped up from lying down on one of the banquettes.
Horses for courses but it was also VERY LOUD. The Bristol coppa club isnât one of their largest venues and I suspect that contributed to the fact that volume levels of the live music- Just too loud making conversation almost impossible at times. I wish weâd been warned as not a great option for our party with hearing aids and sound sensitive kids. They were good enough to let us move to a slightly quieter spot.
Finally the loos were horrible- the ladies only had one useable stall- one had faeces smeared all over it and the other had run out of loo paper.
The Cardiff one is so well run, but the Bristol one just doesnât really cut it. Not sure weâll be back in a hurry,...
