I found this cafe after googling “dog friendly cafes in Bristol”. I was in a Bristol from out of town as my husband had a specialist medical appointment. While waiting for him, my corgi and I wanted a place to stop off and escape the rain. This cafe come up in several “Bristol dog friendly” websites and was close by. As I entered the cafe I double checked that is was dog friendly and a less than friendly gent just huffed “yeah”. I proceeded to order a coffee ( the lady was lovely I ordered from) and sat down and waited for my husband. A little dog barked at us so we walked to the seating area so we sat on the other side of the cafe. My dog was perfectly behaved and didn’t make a noise until my husband came in where he made some excited little grumbles when greeting him. As my husband went to bathroom the not so friendly gent came in and doing so startled my dog. He barked a little ( granted he had a loud bark for a little dog), but I quickly stopped him. The gent then proceeded to snap at me and told me I my dog had to leave. He said was scared of dogs and so were other people so he couldn’t have him barking. Now it wasn’t the fact we were told to leave; I mean it felt harsh, he wasn’t continuously barking or out of control, but the manner on which I was told to leave was humiliating and rude. Instead of coming up to me and asking me to remove my dog, he felt the need to announce this loudly from 5+ meters away in front of the full cafe. I then had to leave our coffee’s, take my husbands stuff and wait outside. It was actually quiet upsetting as it was already a stressful day. I will be recommending to all “dog friendly” websites to remove this cafe as a recommended business and l suggest if you are scared of dogs, don’t work at a dog friendly...

Been here multiple times now, and each time I've loved it. The baristas are incredibly friendly and helpful, and are very skilled at making exceptional coffee.

They sell your basic drinks, aswell as allowing you to choose a different variant of coffee beans, although this does cost extra. I've had an iced latte and a hot latte, flat white, fruit tea, and cortado from this coffee shop, as well as a berry flavoured drink from their fridge, all of which were amazing, and had excellent texture.

The wait times are regular, with most drinks being served in 2 to 5 minutes. Obviously, this increases if it's busy, but even on the busiest day I experienced there it took under 10 minutes.

The costs are one negative aspect of the cafe though as, although not by much, they are more expensive than surrounding shops. A latte, for example, costs £3.70, and alternative milks cost +20p (used to be +40p), and guest espresso is +40p.

The serving sizes are around average for a café, with a latte being 12oz, and a flat white being (I believe) 9oz.

The building is incredibly cosy and inviting, although it can become crowded during lunch.

Overall, it's a great café with exceptional coffee, amazing service, great atmosphere, but slightly overpriced items.

Plus they also sell coffee beans...

Absolutely wonderful Café that carries some amazing specialty coffee and extremely personal and helpful employees. I discovered Society Café purely by coincidence during my trip to Bristol while I was looking around for Beans to bring home. The interior feels very welcoming with lots of Natural light and comfortable furniture and plants strewn around.

Once you enter the counter carrying lovely cakes is right ahead, while the wall to your left carries different speciality coffee and brewing equipment. Underneath the shelves are fridges carrying a variety of cold drinks, including their amazing in-house cold brew. Dan from staff came over to me while I was browsing their lovely guest beans. He was very helpful in helping me pick something according to my preference and we talked a bit about speciality coffee. He was even kind enough to invite my friend and me to an event the following day. The entire crew working on our days visiting was wonderfully accomodating.

The prepared drinks were carefully prepared each time and the quality was easy to taste.

I'm looking forward to my next time...

I'm mad for good coffee and they have managed to hit the score. Good service, good coffee, good latte art. They even have phamplets on the side to educate their customers on the current coffee beans and it's notes we are supposed to taste out of. In terms of ambience, it's lovely. The match of earthly colour scheme, with the warm tones of lights is perfect and ideal for a coffee shop space. Original layout of the space has not been easy to work with but the IDs managed to transform a difficult space into 3 segregations that works when it comes together. I bought 3 coffees. The only downside is that of the matcha latte. It is greenish-yellow, overly bitter and lack tea aroma. Either their matcha was well past it's prime, or they were using the wrong type of matcha powder for the drinks which is a pity because they were even using a Chasen to whisk the matcha powder. Nonetheless, the other 2 coffees were amazing! Highly recommend to visit.

Lovely interior with tons of space that is very pleasant to sit and work in or meet a friend. The staff are very friendly and of all the cafes I’ve been to in Bristol, I find Society trains their employees very well overall in working with coffee. The coffee is very good, always having a selection featuring at least two roasters. They also offer a variety of brewing methods and will happily advise you if you need help, which is always appreciated. Amazing location as well, right next to the water. If you sit in the right spot you can even watch the boats just outside 😌🧘🏻‍♂️☕️
