I love this place, I often go there for a meal as it’s good size portion, good selection of food and drinks and very good prices. This is my favourite Wetherspoons in Bristol as it’s not far from river Avon and not too far to Clifton as after big meal and some nice drinks I like to explore Bristol. It has plenty tables and service is pretty quick. Also if you looking for drinks to go out this is good place to go as the drinks are in reasonable prices and all the nightclubs are just couple minutes walk away. Also there is plenty toilets so don’t really need to wait in long lines. It gets busy around festive times or student nights, but even then there is nice and chilled vibe.

Large pub with a stained-glass dome and a small whispering gallery in a former shopping arcade. Like all Wetherspoons, the whole Nation over, the place suffers from the occasional staff deficit, with all the problems of service this will entail and this one, being in the heart of student-land (from which they court the majority of their temporary employees) the problem here is exacerbated. Notwithstanding this, the establishment is a pleasure to enter for the history buff, the place is a mine of information regarding local events. Dotted around the establishment are excellently mounted pictures with explanatory text, concerning events such as Monmouth's Rebellion, 1685, Bristol Riots, 1831 and much about Bristol's changes of fortune during the civil war, 1642 and much more. Fast forward to the present and the Berkeley, like most of the Wetherspoon stable, is on the Cask Marque Ale trail and justifiably so. The pint of Green King Heritage 5%abv went down exceedingly well as I boned up on local history. There is a Tardis like effect to the place, once a Victorian shopping arcade and seems to go on and on, with nooks and crannies aplenty. There's a beautiful stained glass dome in one area, that is lovely to perceive when the sunlight shines through it. There are large windows facing the main road - ideal for people watching. On the down side, considering it's location and the demographic of it's main customer base, the place is, and looks, 'much used.' A team of cleaners, followed rapidly by a squad of decorators could apply much needed TLC to the interior.

Wetherspoon branch visited #113. Decided to visit this branch whilst on a day trip to Bristol. A branch in the Clifton area of the City. Was busy upon arrival. Found a table at the back of the pub, however no 4G/5G signal on EE at all. The Cloud WiFi would not let me sign in. Had to find another table, as ordering at the bar would have resulted in anotuer hunt for a table. This is a other branch that does the 'Top Plates, Low Rates' offer. However the Pizza offer is advertised as £9.86 on the advertisements but is £10.93 on the app. This needs amending on either the app, or the advertising around the pub. The 'Top Plates, Low Rates' deals have also been creeping up in price since the offer was first launched. Savings on some items are now minimal - in particular for the 3oz American and Crunchy Chicken Burger, Pizzas and Vegetarian chicken options. However, I did order an All Day Brunch and Pint of Leffe. Was also a little unimpressed that the festival beers were not available to order via the app, when there were clearly some on the bar to purchase. Service was somewhat slow, with pint of Leffe arriving 11 minutes after being ordered. Food arriving nearly 20 minutes later. No issues with quality or temperature of food, when it arrived. Despite the small gripes, I do recommend visiting if you are in the area. As always, Spoons prices generally win again most other places.

I used to like this spoons and came very often but unfortunately in the last month or two the standard has plummeted. I believe it has coincided with a large staffing change. The biggest complaint has to be the food itself. I don’t know what’s going on in the kitchen but the quality of food being served is SHOCKING. The worse part is that most of it doesn’t actually require cooking, just frying or heating up! And yet somehow the food is regularly undercooked, overcooked, cold… I ordered the curry one Thursday and received these popadoms. They had been thrown in the fryer one on top of the other so came out raw, oil soaked and fused together. Literally inedible. I complained to a female manager who hurriedly said she would bring more, but did not. Every single plate of curry that I saw had the same problem and had left their popadoms untouched. You would think that this would alert them to a problem!? Unfortunately this is not an isolated incident. I have now discovered that the spoons just a 10 min walk away on Whiteladies road is incredible compared to the Berkeley. If you’re reading this I suggest you save yourself the disappointment and make your way to the W.G Grace up the road.

The staff were all perfectly pleasant. However, they must be severely overstretched. I chose to go here because it’s a Wetherspoons and I was looking after a two year old on my own. I can use the app to order. I ordered from the app at 14:26, the meals arrived at 15:06. That’s 40 minutes. During that time I heard a man (as did the whole pub as it went quiet) raising his voice somewhat as he and a party of people had been waiting over an hour. Going back to me, I was then waiting for dessert. At 15:46 there was no sign of it and I decided to order a kids ice cream as well. My desert turned up at 15:52. I mentioned having added the order on and asked if they could do it sooner rather than later so we could eat desert together. I’m thinking that shouldn’t be a problem... putting a scoop of ice cream in a bowl and putting sauce on shouldn’t take much more than 30 seconds. By 16:15 it still hadn’t arrived so we left. They must be doing something right as it was packed, but honestly with a two year old that was hungry it made it a much more difficult experience trying to keep her entertained for that length of time just sat there waiting.

Visited on 18/06/23. 16:00 hrs. We sat down and had to ask for the table to be cleaned The young lady came swept the crumbs to the floor and a halfhearted wipe. Not a hint of a smile. I requested for an extra glass and straw for our drinks. She told me to go and ask at the bar. I found that extremely rude. She made at least two trips to my table with food while I stood at the bar for a glass. She could have easily gotten it for us. She also projected a disdainful attitude throughout almost slamming our orders on the table and nearly dropped the pizza.Initially we thought she’s had a bad day, however she was happily chatting to customers on the next table. Seemed she had something for us. Not one time did she come to ask if we required anything or was everything alright with the food. Very disappointed. She definitely needs a retraining in waiting without preconceptions.
