The Old Bank — Restaurant in Bury

Ordered a vegan cheese & veg toastie and specified no onion when asked if I wanted onion, instead got a vegan cheese & raw red onion toastie with no other veg, plus non-vegan coleslaw on the side (confirmed by staff) and what I suspect was also non-vegan dressing on the side salad. Obviously disappointing for me, but if it was someone who had allergies this could be a pretty serious situation. Kitchen clearly either lacking in understanding about food safety & allergies, or just lazy and not thought through the order when plating up.

Took it back after 1 bite, asked for refund as no time to wait for a replacement given was on my lunch hour, staff weren't particularly apologetic and seemed annoyed more than anything, they were young to be fair and perhaps don't have the experience or authority to remedy this kind of situation. I don't know if there were any mamagers or senior staff in.

They couldn't/wouldn't do a refund as the card machine was only working for taking payments and not refunding... not offered anything else to try and rectify the situation. Took my details and apparently will be in touch "in a few hours" to process a refund. Really annoyed, been here a few times since they've opened but won't be...

Hope the owners will read and act on these reviews. Went there few days ago. It’s a nice place to visit, been there several times, staff are friendly although not once they checked if the food was ok. Now - the food… ordered jacket potato with pulled pork and regretted it as soon as it landed on my table. The pork was super dry, as if it was reheated multiple times, parts of it were so hard they were inedible. Jacket potato - seems like a simple thing, but learnt you can actually go wrong with it - it was very dry, grey coloured, tasted like previous day potato. I understand they don’t want anyone to wait for food and certain preparation has to be done, but it was not good. My friend ordered a ham sandwich - expecting something more than a sandwich from a supermarket (the ham was like the cheap reconstituted supermarket stuff). Bread was ok. Chunky chips were nice though and choice of teas and coffees. Please please improve the food, we’d love to come back for...

Fist time here today, setting was really nice but the service was very poor. We sat ourselves down as we were not sure if we needed to be seated, a waitress said she'd bring us some menus, that never happened. After finding our own menus we waited another 30 mins to be told we needed to order at the bar (not ideal with 2 hangry toddlers). About 1 hour in the food arrived with 2 errors. One error for my 4 year old took 20 mins to add toast to the order, again I had to go downstairs to see what was taking so long to be told the grill wasn't turned on. The food was average.
