The Andalusian — Restaurant in Carlisle

Our first time back since it became Andalusian again and our first time sat in the elegant and spacious upstairs room, with its elegant wood, plaster and tilted finish. It was also lovely and airy on a very warm evening.

Great service from the excellent staff, generous portions of tasty veggie tapas and a wide range of cocktails, gins and liqueurs. It's a good sized menu, with plenty of variety to suit all tastes, maybe just needs an extra veggie main course?

Just as an observation, the very tasty camembert needs more than one slice of bread to accompany it (and the excellent chutney) and with all the fruit you have to put into the cocktails, it would be nice to have a bit more choice of garnishes (and maybe tonics even) to accompany the gin list.

We had a surprise party booked today 11-2-23 our table wasn’t ready, it literally took two minutes to push some tables together. Then we got told our food was going to take a while even tho we choose the tapas as there was a few of us and were told this would be the quickest option. We got our food after waiting one and half hours we never got asked if anyone had any allergies or was vegetarian/vegan. We got told this option would be £20 per person. We did get a free round of drinks as an apology for the food taking so long. When we went to pay the waitress said it was £25 per person which we didn’t pay. We paid the original £20 per person. Was left waiting quite some time to be seated (be with you in the moment) would have gone a long way. Sunday menu is ok we had the beef. I nearly choked on part of a cinnamon stick that had been left in my cabbage, reported this to the waitress and she disappeared with it into the kitchen, a few minutes later a voice from behind the bar shouted across the restaurant informing me "it's just a cinnamon stick, nothing to worry about". I then would have needed a chainsaw to get through the parsnip. I asked the waitress if she'd like to try and cut it but she declined.
