Mixed grill £4.99 - Special of the Day the notice boasted. Pedigree Chum would have tasted nicer , the food thrown in front of us sans sausage and peas that followed separately. Peas as cold as ice. No organisation , very young inexperienced staff , group of people heavily intoxicated sat by the side of us whilst eating Alfresco , screaming and shouting amongst each other. No security to throw them out , clearly been drinking all day and should not have been served any more alcohol. Bar staff were slow and intent on carrying out other tasks rather than serve. After a hard shift in work , baking heat , the expectation and joy of having a cold lager with some nice food was shattered by the utter shambles at this pub. Action plan for them. Employ a manager who provides structure and recruits staff who are motivated to work . Sort the kitchen out , don’t expect Michelin star food for £4.99 but at least provide it hot and altogether instead of dribs and drabs. Educate the staff to bring condiments to the tables outside . Ensure Security are employed from 6 pm to remove intoxicated people shouting and screaming and spoiling other...

Honestly? This place was awful. I've never had a bad experience with wetherspoons, I guess there has to be one! Staff unknowledgeable on basic food orders. Wine glasses given with children's meals. Bacon very burnt, even the good bits tasted burnt. Eggs were not cooked properly the white of the eggs were watery and the yolk, well not sure that had even seen heat it was raw. Team leader told us he would eat it as he's not fussy, was his exact words! My youngest son's pasta had several hard bits that he had to leave. My BBQ chicken and bacon panini had no BBQ sauce not did it taste of BBQ, however my bacon wasn't burnt. State the 1 star . Waiters were carrying meals around and around trying to find the table they belonged to. I heard 4 other customers complaining about the poor quality of food and service from team members. The toilets were dirty too! Even 2 ladies in the loos said how disgraced they were with their experience their this lunch time and said they certainly will not be returning. The other spoons we have visited in Cardiff have been fab! This one has many improvements it...

The Central Bar in Cardiff is your very typical Wetherspoons, just a lot smaller than most. I visited twice on the same weekend, at two very different times of day, including breakfast, and it was busy both times. I suspect the size of the venue plays a big part in that. There is more seating available upstairs, but during our visit they had closed it off. It was only opened later on once things got a bit too packed downstairs. Staff were all very polite and helpful. I also noticed that, unlike some other Wetherspoons, this one didn’t seem to attract the usual early morning drinkers, which made for a much more pleasant. The breakfast was exactly what you would expect. Most of the ingredients are either pre prepared or follow a set recipe that is used across all branches. So the food is usually consistent no matter which Wetherspoons you go to. Overall, it’s a decent little Wetherspoons. Nothing special, but it does the job.

Wetherspoons #117 visited. A rather small branch situated off the main shopping district of Queen Street, with an outside 'beer garden' situated at the back of the pub. A handy location for Queen St Railway Station, situated nearby. Although the pub was not the largest visited on my trip to Cardiff, they did seem to make an effort with the range of guest beers on. I've often found on my travels that the smaller branches tend to make more of an effort in all areas of service and food, than many of the larger, more popular branches. Opted for a pint of Oakham Bite The Bullet, which was in good condition. Did not sample food on this occasion, as had breakfast at the Prince of Wales branch earlier in the day. Worth a visit, if in the area!
