If you like France & if you love French food then you need to visit Petit Coco Bistro in Cheltenham. I even overheard one diner say "it's just like being on holiday in France for an hour or two" and do you know what, she was right. The atmosphere, the restaurant, the service and most importantly the food was excellent. We visited on a quiet Monday evening, with several other diners, it was so relaxing. The restaurant was warm and welcoming, and the staff were very pleasant & polite. We opted for the house red; after all when in France always drink the wine chosen by the locals, so if the restaurant chose it for their house wine it wasn't going to be bad and it wasn't. A full bodied fruity red. For our entrees I had the ham hock terrine whilst my wife had the stunningly tasty comte soufflé; a better entree she's never had she told the waiter. A creamy and very cheesy 🧀 😋 dish. And then for our mains I had the duck whilst my wife chose the calves liver with bacon. Both great choices, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Then for our desert we finished our evening with a creme brulee to share. A lovely evening at Petit Coco Bistro. A lovely French Bistro that we will certainly visit again, soon. Very happy to recommend a visit, I don't think you'd be disappointed 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

This was easily one of my best finds in a 2 week placement in Cheltenham/Goucester area. From the initial greeting bread and butter to the very end, this place serves pure quality in a sophisticated yet comfortable in a familiar fashion. The sweet onion soup was a perfect starter, although quite filling, to the Magret de Carnard, which was cooked to perfection, with crispy fat and juicy medium rare cut. At the end of my main course I was sadly too full to attempt any desserts. So I promised myself to come back for another main and postre. And so I did a couple of days later. Went for 2 starters, typical french Terrine Maison and Crepe aux Champignon, followed by Chocolate Foundant to satiate my sweet tooth. To die for. Brilliant choices, in my opinion. Service is attentive and friendly. I highly reccommend this hidden little gem to anyome looking for a proper rich meal, or looking for an off the beaten track place (yet right in the middle of town!). I liked the fact that the restaurant was hard to spot, as it somehow makes it that little bit more special.

Last night we dined at this recommended little bistro Petit Coco , quaintly located in the basement of a georgian townhouse and adorned with photographs of famous French film stars. Once inside you could mistake this for any charming bistro in France. It’s small, cosy and is all things French. The menu changes often but we were pleased that some of the French classic were on the menu last night. I will warm you now, the portion are generous, so don’t go crazy stuffing your face with the lovely French bread they give at the start. They have a small but lovely French wine selection, so there will be something for everyone. If you have room, highly recommend one for their desserts. The staff are lovely, attentive and always on hand should you need them. We highly recommend you book as I think they picky have about 10 tables.

Petit Coco was recommended by a friend who is a chef, is very fussy and a perfectionist. I’ve now been twice and on both occasions was very impressed. This little family-run restaurant is to be found down a little set of stairs. It’s welcoming and atmospheric as soon as you walk through the door. The service is fantastic - friendly and efficient. The food is wonderful - all made in-house with portion sizes that are just perfect and presented beautifully. I’ve had snails, cheese soufflé, lamb and cassoulet, all of which I can recommend highly. The price for this high quality food is very reasonable, representing extremely good value for money. I recently organised a birthday meal here for a party of about a dozen guests. Afterwards, everyone was impressed, with nothing but compliments for the choice of venue and quality of food. I highly recommend this cosy little restaurant and now know why my chef friend says it’s his favourite place to eat in Cheltenham.

Update 18/11/24: since my original review I have returned to the family-owned Petit Coco 4 or 5 times, most recently last weekend after returning from a trip to London. I was lucky to have eaten at two very prestigious restaurants around Mayfair which were impressive. So, having set the bar very high, I returned to this hidden gem of bistro in the centre of Cheltenham on Saturday. It was bonkers busy because of the race-goers, however, the atmosphere was wonderful, with a lovely buzz. The waiters & waitress were very friendly and welcoming, despite being rushed off their feet. The food? Well, it was just amazing. We took friends who had never been to PC before and they were very impressed. From my experience this lovely bistro never fails to deliver on quality and it puts a smile on my face every time. None of the dishes I’ve tried have ever disappointed. It’s fabulous and is extremely good...

We were in Cheltenham for 3 nights and managed to reserve this place for lunch. It was not the easiest place to find as you have to walk down narrow steps to the restaurant. As per the name, it is a relatively small place with few tables. Is cozy and feels like dining at someone's home. The staff was very friendly as he gave us the menu. We have decided to order 1 lunch set menu and others from the ala carte menu. We had the terrine with chicken and chorizo, skate with potatoes, escargot and chicken basque. Glad that we were served warm bread to kick off the meal. Food was very tasty, comfort food and nothing pretentious. When we asked for the bill, we had a surprise as the staff brought us a scoop of ice cream with a candle for our wedding anniversary. My husband has mentioned it in the reservation requesting for a quiet corner. We have made reservations for dinner for 3 nights with 3 different restaurants and none of them even take note of our request. So we were really surprised that Coco Petite has paid attention to our request. Thank you for a wonderful lunch experience and we hope to be...
