I had high hopes when I reached out to Mr. Cambray's Curiosity in June to host my 40th birthday party. I met with Jasmine, who assured me the date was available and pencilled it into her diary. After discussing payment, her words were, “Ah, it’s months away, there’s no need for payment now, we’ve plenty of time for that. I’ll be in touch,” this left me feeling confident and excited. Believing the booking was secure, I started inviting guests and making arrangements for what I thought would be a memorable celebration.
Months passed without any communication from the venue. Concerned, I reached out, only to be told the room was no longer available. What made this even worse was the lack of an apology or acceptance of any responsibility on their part. Instead, the fault was placed back on me. Despite being told there was no urgency for payment, I would have gladly paid in June to avoid such a fiasco.
This lack of accountability turned what should have been an exciting time into a stressful ordeal as I scrambled to find a new venue for 80 people. Since then, I’ve heard from others about similarly poor experiences with this venue, which only reinforces my disappointment. I would suggest you review your booking policy moving forward and make sure any further enquiries don’t experience the ordeal I and others have had to encounter.
If you’re considering Mr. Cambray's Curiosity for your event, my advice is to think twice. I certainly won’t be recommending them to anyone.

If this was your policy, then why did your staff not take payment from me when I was more than willing to pay when I was there in person? To be informed no deposit was needed and that YOU would make contact with me to sort final arrangements. I think you need to check that all your staff are aware of this because it's clear to see that on this occasion you didn't...
Read moreOh my god I love this place! The only thing missing is karaoke in the man cave cellar.
The second floor has a room that is completely decorated with pink flowers, I'm assuming this is for hen parties. (I'm American and so we call those something different)
Each room is differently decorated and by someone with an amazing sense of style and imagination. The owner, Steve, did it all and he said it was the hardest thing he ever did because he's no interior designer, but I disagree. I think he's an amazing designer with an incredible sense of style for a man who has grown up running bars.
I stopped by one afternoon for a cup of coffee and just got chatting with him. So friendly, interesting and smart.
I was staying around the corner and so it was easy access for me. It's right there half a block off the high street by the Tesco. It's also open almost all day and into the evening.
They have two lovely outdoor sections where you can sit in the sun on a pretty day, which is what we did as I bored him with my life stories and American politics. He was gracious every moment.
I wish I could have stayed in Cheltenham forever. Nice town with nice people, and great...
Read moreI visited about a year ago when Mr Cambrays curiosity first opened, and recall enjoying some delicious cocktails, while admiring the decor. The decor is still pristine, which was nice to see. .I also discovered ,on route to the toilets ..that there were more rooms, each with an unique theme. I don't live in Cheltenham but I would certainly come here in the evening if I was out with friends. Daytime more of a cafe with pastries, toasties, paninis salads and hot and soft drinks also available . Service was good, with food and drinks brought quickly and nicely presented. Had the blueberry daiquiris which were made from scratch and not some premix watered down concoction. Probably one of the best I've tasted. Private events and parties could also be booked in the speakeasy bar which I unfortunately didn't get to see into. Certainly would recommend checking Mr...
