Had a great time at Planet Caravan in Cheltenham, a cool spot for simple but flavorful Mexican dishes that are perfect for sharing. The menu isn't too complicated, but everything we tried was packed with taste, making it a great place to head with friends.
Theyāve also got a wide range of beers to choose from, and itās always changing, so thereās something new to try each time you visit. I went for a few of the more unusual beersādidnāt love all of them, but I appreciated the chance to step outside my comfort zone and try something different.
The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, happy to chat and make recommendations based on what you like. The venue itself is brightly colored, laid-back, and has a great vibeādefinitely a fun spot to hang out.
I also loved seeing that they run "Talk Clubs," a menās mental health initiative, which I think is a fantastic way to get people talking and connecting with the ups and downs of real life.
Overall, Planet Caravan is a great choice if youāre looking for a relaxed place with tasty food, good drinks, and a friendly atmosphere. Iāll definitely be back to see what new beers they have on tap and enjoy more of those delicious...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāll start with the good parts:
Waitress serving us was great albeit on her own and should have had more help. Cocktails were great.
Onto the bad parts:
The place is tiny, which would be absolutely fine if they hadnāt decided to place tables less than half a foot away from each other. We were seated firstly in between two tables and the proximity from each, paired with the overpoweringly loud music made it an unpleasant place to sit. Also the table wasnāt ready at the time we had reserved and there was no one to greet or sit you in the restaurant. In a restaurant which prices a main at Ā£20 this is poor!
The food was lacking, we had the beef short rib which was nicely cooked but with very little flavour bar salt. We ordered a Ā£4 extra āfeastā which was four small tortillas, a small amount of āsalsaā (loosely cut onion and tomato with nothing else), a tiny pot of guacamole about the size of a shot and some sweetcorn. The guacamole also had to be asked for after it was forgotten.
First bad review I have ever left. So disappointing and a real shame given some good service, would recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYou can tell the husband and wife duo who started planet caravan have poured their heart and soul into this place. Itās like no idea was ever a bad idea, and every idea has been executed perfectly. 16 draught beers in a place big enough for probably like 32 people? Why not. Weāll just get a canning machine to bag up any leftovers and make THE BEST beer cocktails to help even the most strict beer haters drink the beer (the lagerita is my favourite drink of all time and thatās no exaggeration!) doing food in a kitchen as big as the toilet? Why not. We'll make simple but mad tasting drinking food that doesnāt take loads of prep space. Fanny bombs? Yeah f it. Weāll sell fanny bombs and cheer every time someone orders some. It honestly makes me happy every time Iām there. No egos, no judgement, just a lot of fun, friendly staff and insane...
