First off, as you mosey on into The Swan, you'll find the ambiance as warm and welcoming as a country hoedown. The decor, oh boy, it's got that perfect blend of traditional and modern. You'll feel right at home, like you're sittin' on your own front porch, sippin' sweet tea.
Now, the staff at The Swan, they're as friendly as can be. They'll greet ya with a smile and make you feel like part of the family. They're attentive and always ready to help, just like your neighbor lending a hand to fix that picket fence.
Let's talk about the food, shall we? The menu is a real treat, offering a variety of dishes that'll tickle your taste buds like grandma's homemade apple pie. Whether you're in the mood for some classic British fare or craving something a bit more exotic, The Swan's got you covered.
And speaking of drinks, their selection is as vast as the Great Plains. From ales to lagers to some fine wines, you'll find something to wet your whistle and raise your spirits higher than a cornfield at sunset.
Now, I've heard they've got some live music from time to time, and that's like a good ol' barn dance to keep you entertained. It's a place to kick back, relax, and enjoy some toe-tappin' tunes with friends and family.
And before I wrap this up, I gotta say, The Swan's got that charm that makes it a great spot for folks of all walks of life. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's a place where you can pull up a chair, enjoy a great meal, and soak in the good vibes of Cheltenham.
So, if you're lookin' for a taste of Cheltenham hospitality that'll make you feel right at home, head on over to The Swan. You won't be...
Read moreWe drove down to Cheltenham from Birmingham to spend a Sunday afternoon. We had a little pup with us so we Googled dog friendly restaurants and happened to stumble across The Swan. We rang them and were politely informed that they were VERY dog friendly, that no reservations were required and that they didn’t do a Sunday roast. That suited us just fine. When we got there, we ordered the fish koliwada pakora, the kurkuri bhindi okra, the samosa chaat, the murg makhani butter chicken curry and the goat meat curry. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection. The butter chicken was just a tad sweeter than we would have preferred but, to be fair, it is meant to be a sweeter dish and the kids absolutely loved it. The okra and the samosa chaat were the best we’ve ever tasted anywhere in the U.K. Most restaurants in Birmingham masquerade as Indian but are actually managed and run by Bangladeshis and this is very evident from the taste of the food they serve. When it comes to authenticity, The Swan is as authentically Indian as they come. The only minor negative we could possibly find (if we wanted to be absolutely brutal) was the fact that the only beer they serve are local brews. Other than that, the food was divine and the service was outstanding and we will definitely be driving down to Cheltenham again just to pay them...
Read moreI have visited the Swan quite a few times in the 3 years I've lived in Cheltenham and have always been a big fan of the bean burger, which I used to get with houmous and avocado with a side salad. Recently the menu has changed and I saw that houmous is no longer available to have in the burgers and the side salad is no longer available to have alongside burgers. There were a number of new vegan additions to the menu, however, which I was excited to try. On my most recent visit to the Swan I ordered the vegan mozzarella dippers and bean burger with slaw (all sides for the burgers are listed as vegan on the menu). I asked the bartender if it was possible to have a side salad with the burger but he gave me an unapologetic no. When I tried to pay the card machine wasn't working (it also wasn't working on my last visit) so I had to go out and find a cash point. The mozzarella dippers were pretty horrible to be honest, the bean burger was very dry and completely flavourless, and the slaw I was brought also was not vegan. I am really disappointed with the food as I feel the quality has slipped a lot since the new menu has been introduced. I'm now unlikely to come back which is a shame as it used to be one of my favourite restaurants...
