if in short then:

This place is a total letdown. The coffee is undrinkable, the menu options are limited and uninspiring, and the servings of food are disappointingly boring. It's a far cry from what it used to be years ago. Plus, it's definitely not worth the money. Save yourself the trouble and find a restaurant that actually values its customers.

and if you're into reading then:

Oh, where do I even begin with this place? If you're looking for a restaurant that specializes in serving bad coffee, then look no further. This establishment has truly mastered the art of brewing disappointment in a cup. The coffee tastes like it was extracted from a pile of burnt beans that were left out in the sun for a month. It's a flavor experience you won't soon forget, but not in a good way.

Moving on to the menu options, or should I say lack thereof? This place seems to take pride in offering a poor selection of dishes that leaves you wondering if the chef was asleep while planning the menu. Whether you're a vegetarian, a meat lover, or have any sort of dietary preference, prepare to be disappointed. It's like they took all the generic, uninspired dishes and put them on a single piece of paper. Truly a culinary masterpiece, if your definition of a masterpiece is mediocrity.

Now, let's talk about the sad serving of food that arrives at your table. I've seen better-plated meals at a fast-food joint. The presentation lacks creativity, flair, and any semblance of effort. It's as if the chef has lost all passion for their craft, and it shows.

It's worth mentioning that several years ago, this place used to be much better than it is today. The decline in quality and attention to detail is evident. It's a shame to see what was once a promising establishment become a shadow of its former self. Perhaps it's time for them to revisit their roots and rediscover what made them great in the first place.

Lastly, let's address the elephant in the room: the value for money. Spoiler alert: it's abysmal. The prices they charge for the subpar coffee, limited menu, and sad servings of food are simply unjustifiable. You'd be better off taking your hard-earned money and throwing it directly into the trash can outside. At least there, you'd get the satisfaction of watching it flutter away in the wind.

In conclusion, this restaurant is a prime example of how not to run a culinary establishment. From the bad coffee to the poor menu options, the sad servings of food, and the lack of value for money, it's a disappointment in every sense of the word. Save yourself the trouble and find a place that actually cares about their customers' dining experience. Trust me, your taste buds and your wallet...

This visit was my 2nd visit. Last time me and a couple of friends had cocktails and then food and all was good all night despite it being a very busy evening that night. Today's visit was something else entirely. I wasn't particularly wanting food but in the end I ordered some, wish I hadn't bothered. I found what looked like a black beard hair amongst my salad leaves which to be honest grossed me out somewhat. I promptly pointed the issue out to one of the serving staff, who looked bemused, apologised and replaced it,then came the bar tender to apologise. I said that I'd try and see if I could eat the replacement. The 3 cheese Mac n cheese was delicious but the salad leaves were not fresh and they looked like they'd been left on the plate for some time as they were not crisp and they were a bit warm. My friends side salad leaves were the same and the coleslaw was definitely not fresh as it had that congealed mayo look about it. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement as I used to like the vibe of the place and the last meals were great but today they well and truly took their eye off the ball this time. I thought I might have at least been given a discount for my experience, but no they still expected paying fully for sub standard and unhygienic food. I always think if I found a hair in my salad what on earth are the basic food hygiene standards across the board in there. Never will I go to this place again for food or drinks and neither will any of my friends. Gave me the ick all night did this experience. No amount of attempted persuasion or manipulation tactics would ever get me to cross the threshold of this door again. Plenty of other decent places to eat and hang out in...

My experience was always amazing until tonight when I was very rudley and publicly brandished as a theaf by a member of bar staff I ordered two drinks which took an age to be made no interaction or nothing was made I stood and held over my money he then proceeded to serve another customer I took my drinks and sat down outside as there where no seats in side I have many social evenings in element on a weekly basis and I have always been given a tab so I did not think anything of it as I was sitting that same member of staff came out side stating that I had ran off with the drinks and I have not paid for them I said to him actually I'm in here all the time when you proceeded to serve another customer after I had already tried to hand you the money and you did not take it I assumed as it has always been it was going on a tab he replied with I'm muilty tasking I offers him the money again and he turned his back on me and went back in the manager of the bar then appears and says you have to pay for your drinks I explained the situation but I revived no apologie instead I was asked to fill in a comments card at the end of the day it's the business people of Edinburgh that are always here not just the festival of Edinburgh I spent over £600 with you last week and the week before so I'll be taking my...

Great Fish and Chips! Local Brew on tap, friendly waiters and cozy atmosphere with great music. Wasn’t able to stay for the live music this time, but may come back to do so!

First things first! Total need to book in advance. People being turned away from 7.30 when we arrived to 9pm when we left. Also... Not at all tranquil on a Friday night! Not only did we have to push ourselves in through the door to start our journey through the crowds to the restaurant, but then a guitarist started up at the front of the bar who could clearly be heard at the back of the restaurant. Then there's the other guests which included a party of 8 who were very noisy. Next..... Wonderful food and wonderful service! We had to wait for our pre booked table in the bar and the barman served my wife first. Excellent! We are of a certain age and he treated her like royalty. He made a cocktail with theater. Thank you! Then through to the restaurant section. Service impeccable. The menu is simple, and limited, but so well done. Haggis lollypops and scotch egg followed by fish and chips and Balmoral chicken. A 10% service charge automatically added so we didn't tip. Total for 2 was under £60. Strongly recommended.
