I was overjoyed to take the walk to this little place whilst staying in Edinburgh, as whilst in the central tourist area I had the misfortune to drink some of the worst cups of coffee I'd ever drank. I was fed up of trying places nearby and being disappointed so did a bit of online research to see where was recommend for a good coffee. The recommendations included this one and another in Leith (which was a bit too far of a walk). When we arrived the place was having a refit inside, but thankfully still serving coffee with their custom machine, which looked awesome! Conclusion - a damn good cup of coffee and lived up to the hype. smooth, perfect temperature and great full taste. My flatwhite was silky and creamy heaven after the watery bitter disappointing cups I'd had the days before. Thank you! So good we went back the next day too and this will absolutely be my go to in...
Read moreThis is a super-cute cosy and quirky cafe - a great addition to Buccleuch Street and quite a challenging bit of the street with competition on both sides and where you have to work quite hard to make it work. Plaudits to the owner who has made it beautiful inside. Great coffee and cakes seem good too. No croissants a few times I have been in. Crepe was pretty nice - maybe a small side salad would be good. Also - the owner is very welcoming and friendly - clear that he really cares abut the place and its vibe. While I love the outside it did take me a long time to realise what the cafe is actually called - I feel this should be made clearer outside and inside - this will only strengthen the business if people really know easily what the place is called. Small negative - WC was a bit untidy and could maybe have been...
Read moreI went in to have lunch and work for a while with my laptop. I was standing waiting for ~10 minutes to be served; the owner (I assume) was showing a friend a video on his phone. I set up my laptop, quite obviously intending to work, and asked what the wifi name was so I could connect. The owner was extremely rude and asked me "Where are you?" I was shocked so didn't reply. He pointed at the sign. I said I hadn't been in that cafe before and didn't notice the name. He was loud and condescending in front of all of the other customers when he could have just told me the wifi name. Then when he brought over my lunch, he told me rudely that they had an hour stay limit on customers. I won't be going back and would strongly discourage anyone from going to this cafe,...
