This may be a little biased as I used to work there but cannot recommend this place enough. Everything has so much care and thought put into it by Caroline and the other staff. It is all organic and a more healthy option than anywhere else. You do pay more however I do believe this is because you’re paying for quality. It has fresh baked bread every day, cakes and tray bakes every day, pastries on Saturdays, soups and a curry every day, a great selection of salads, a variety of different savoury pastries, and much more. Care is taken with the coffee and the coffee bean changes every couple of weeks too, as well as having around 20 different types of loose leaf teas! I would definitely recommend you give it a shot, I know I’m glad I did :) (ps. I was not asked to write this review just...

I have never left a review or a complaint -

I popped into the bakery to try their cheese toasties advertised outside. After ordering I was a little shocked at how much it was, £9.25 for a takeaway. However, I was open/excited to try a really great toastie.

After leaving, I opened it up to find a pathetic amount of cheese (see image attached). It definitely was not deserving of the 9.25 price tag.

I did go back and the lady serving me who was kind, gave the toastie to the owner/baker who ‘remade’ this for me. When I then finally tucked into my lunch, due to the fact they had used the original toastie and only added cheese, the bread was soggy and the cheese wasn’t melted! Barely edible and...

The bread here is to die for. Carrot & sunflower loaf available on Saturdays is incredible and a lovely way to get some sneaky veg into kids (also amazing with honey!). Proper, delicious yeast-based loaves with fabulous crust and yummy flavour, I'd highly recommend this place for its loaves, which include Combine Harvester (spelt and oat), stoneground wholemeal, white bloomer, and other variations. They sell out quickly though, so if you want bread you need to pop in first thing and certainly before lunch! Cafe sells a nice selection of cakes and brownies and offers local artisan tea, flat whites, oat and soya milk alternatives and the usual array of coffees. Well worth it for the bread...

This could possibly be the best food I had in Edinburgh. The scone was perfectly salty and crunchy, yet soft in the middle; a perfect vehicle for some Scottish jam. The ginger slice was absolutely to die for! But the clear winner is the vegan lemon olive oil shortbread. I will be talking about it forever, I think. And not to mention, the place itself is quaint and charming in all the right ways! A plethora of WONDERFUL choices, and fantastic customer service as well. Thank you from Canada!
