This used to be a 5* star review for many years, but my last couple of visits have really bad.
I asked for a cortado, which i wasn't really paying attention to being made, interested in listening to the foreign couple collecting their drinks, which appeared to have been wrongly made. After i collected my drink, my friend said didn't you see that? The female barista had taken a flat white that was the wrongly made drink and had poured some of it out, which then became my drink. I opened the lid, saw the milk was fully mixed through and took a sip.
I went back in to the girl who had made it and said this tasted weak and my friend saw you pour the drink made for someone else in to this cup. She seemed quite taken aback at being called out, immediately denied it and offering to make me another, if i wasn't happy with it!
I've always enjoyed Wellington, preferring their coffee to the others in the area, Burr, Cairngorm and the Lowdown. I'm not yet prepared to count Black Sheep on equal footings given their robusta and Wellington coffee is still very good. Sadly the recent service hasn't been inspiring and I think these 2 things, a quality item and quality service need to go hand-in-hand. On the second last experience, the service fell short, and now the service and product, i'll be reluctant to...
Read moreThis was now our 2nd time getting a scone at a cafe in Edinburgh and this one was highly disappointing. We got a cheddar and jalapeño scone with two cappuccinos.
The cappuccino was pretty good as it had only a little bit of bitterness to it. I would definitely recommend if someone is in the area and wants a quick coffee to go.
As for the scone, I was highly disappointed. They served a cold scone (sitting out most of the day) with cold butter. When I asked if it could be warmed up they said they had nothing to warm it up in. Seriously? Even if that is true, then shame on the owners for not buying a small toaster oven which cost maybe £30 to be able to do that. I was highly disappointed in this, especially for the price we paid for it.
Lastly, the customer service could be improved a lot. While ordering it seemed like i was bothering the girls. The laughable thing is, the machine prompts you for a tip right before you pay. What am I tipping for again? If you're going to ask for a tip, please work on the customer service first. I refuse to tip when the thing I'm tipping...
Read moreSo this really small little cafe was introduced to me by my friends who raved about this place. Tucked away in a basement type area you could easily pass by it and miss it , but you surely don’t want to miss it
The first time I tried it I was amazed at how amazing the coffee was . I have always been a big fan of their coffee and visit them whenever I am in princes street. I don’t usually drink at the big coffee chains that are in close proximity to wellington(Starbucks, Pret) when I have such a fantastic little cafe right around the corner.
If you do come in the morning you might find that there is a bit of the queue and a little cramped on the inside to take your orders for takeout but the staff are really friendly and everything is orderly.
There are a few seats inside and a few on the outside that you can sit and enjoy this wonderful coffee. A full 5/5 from me. Every single visit has given me the same joy that I felt the first time I visited the cafe.
My go to drink has always been the flat white and I really do enjoy it at...
