Dropped by after a show at the Playhouse, and found a seat pretty easily. Went to the bar but no one was there, but there was a sign saying someone would be back in 2 mins. Once the barman came back, I asked for a Amarumble and Espresso Martini only to be told by the barman in a dismissive manner that they don't do that, so I ordered a cosmopolitan instead After this, the barman then proceeded to make the drinks with him slamming down all the ingredients on the bar, and huffing and puffing while doing it, making me wonder if I had done something wrong. Looking at the menu after I ordered a drink there was a paragraph saying they don't do that drink plus some other ones, which maybe explains the strop from the barman. First time here, probably the last time, been in lots of bars where they can make basic cocktails that are not listed without a bartender acting like that.

The Keller is tucked away in a Lane just off Broughton Street, which adds to the charm of this German-style taproom. The decor is inviting, and capped off by real hops hanging from the wooden beams. It's got a lot going for it: friendly people; great selection of beers; dogs are welcome, etc. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Absolutely love the decor in here! They have little arty bits and bobs you can purchase, along with some plants! Unusual for a bar but I like it! They have plenty of tvs and Air-con! Service from bar staff was really good. Toilets kept clean too. Didn't purchase any food but from what I saw it looked nice!

Lovely bar with a unique feel. Staff very pleasant however, visited the bar for the first times 22.10.2022 around 8:30pm. After entering we asked a member of staff if there was a table available and was advised would check. About 5mins later we were shown to a table. The bar operates table service but there was no drinks menu so one of us had to look on there phone. After a few minutes of frustration one of us went to the bar and asked what was available. Went back to the table and waited around ten minutes while the one member of staff on the floor cleaned tables and fluffed up cushions. Eventually went to the bar and ordered drinks then drinks arrived. After this the table service was find. Saw two other guys enter the bar and after standing at the bar for a while they left looking not to happy. When you enter a bar you should have the choice to order at the bar or be offered table service. The whole experience was long winded and frustrating. Won’t be...

Nice to find a German style brewery in Edinburgh attempting to brew authentic German beers. On the whole a good experience, the Kellerbier being the best beer on offer, with Weizen and Dunkel also being decent, though didn't find any of beers to be truly authentic. My only problem is price and glasses used. Would be nice to be severed a wheat beer in a traditional style glass, plus all the beers came with a large head typical or German style beer which is great, however there is no pint marking on the glass so it's impossible to know if your being served the correct measure, at £6 a pint it's important to actually know you are getting what you paid for. Also sad to see a brew pub charging so much for a pint, I was hoping to recreate the German experience where your never over charged for beer, with Augustiner in München charging 4.5 euros for a half litre and can usually find a Kellerbier throughout Bavaria for...
