The most honest review you could get about Whynot. On all my nights in Edinburgh, I've never been treated as bad as I was at Whynot, The workers are very racist and do not care about their customers. Why would you want a night where you spend all your money and get kicked out for being completely sober because of your Color? Profession ? for what reason? At a normal club, if you are singled out for being too drunk or any reason, you are told to wait for 10mins to sober up, but in my case even without being drunk, I was given no option, I even asked to get my friends but I was refused even with proof that I didn't have a phone on me to call. I had no keys to get into my flat and no friends, I spent hours begging to get my friends but they didn't consider to even help. I was basically stranded because of a bunch of racist This isn't the first time this is happening, on a different night sometime last year, my friend was kicked out cause she was completely drunk (she actually was) After checking on my friend for a minute to see if she was fine i tried going back into the club so i could get my other friends and my stuff so we could leave, but i wasn't let in for no damn reason (didn't know you were not allowed to step out of a club). This was confusing to me because I wasn't even kicked out and even with explaining that to them they still wouldn't let me in, so I just asked for my stuff and they literally just shoved it up in my face and in anger I argued and I got pushed by one of...
Read moreI’ve never felt so disappointed walking away from a venue. Myself and three friends, all of us well above the legal age to enter, were refused entry at the door. The reason given was that we “didn’t fit the demographic of the age.” That statement alone left us deeply unsettled. We respect that every nightclub has the right to ensure safety and maintain standards, but the experience we had at Why Not Nightclub felt arbitrary and exclusionary. We could not help but ask ourselves—was it truly about “demographics,” or was there another reason behind why a group of Indian friends was turned away despite being polite, sober, and legally eligible to enter? A place that prides itself on being inclusive and modern should never allow its policies—or its staff’s discretion—to leave guests feeling alienated. Edinburgh is a city known for its warmth and diversity, yet this encounter suggested the opposite. Nightlife should be about music, joy, and shared human experiences, not about making people feel like they don’t belong because of who they are. I hope the management of Why Not Nightclub takes this feedback seriously and reflects on how decisions at the door can affect not just an evening, but also a person’s sense of belonging in this city. Shame on a system that leaves paying, legal-age guests questioning whether they were judged not by their character, but by their appearance...
Read moreSecurity put their hands on women!! 3 months ago I was physically assaulted by one of the why not nightclub security and verbally assaulted by three others. After accusing my friend of being drunk when he slipped on a very wet floor, he was man handled by security without even questioning him. They thought he was too drunk, and without even explaining themselves they decided to grab him aggressively before trying to throw him out. I will point out that my friend was a black man, and i think this is very relevant to the treatment we received. After questioning them, they put hands on me, threw us to the GROUND where I bruised my elbow. Never happened before. They called us names, told us we didn’t belong here, their comments clearly strongly motivated. I wasn’t drunk. I was not causing a disturbance. Neither was my friend. And i was PHYSICALLY grabbed by the security in the green. The man smiling in the photo was literally verbally assaulting us. I called the nightclub to start a full investigation, but their false promises never extended past a ‘sorry this happened to you’ phone call. This should go court. Never experienced this...
