First visit — won’t be the last! A hidden Malaysian gem in Coventry. Honestly what a lovely introduction to Malay cuisine I'll definitely be back!

Me and my best friend visited Warung by Evro Cafe on Corporation Street (Coventry) for the first time — and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish!

As soon as we walked in, we were the first customers of the day and immediately noticed how bright, clean, and stylish the space was. The decor is modern and airy, with quirky artwork, cute little plants on the tables, and a crisp coffee bar and counter displaying desserts and pastries. It felt really fresh and welcoming.

We were warmly greeted by Ezlyn, who served us throughout. She was incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful — she talked us through the menu and explained how to order when we were ready explaining the dishes and ultimately helping us choose. Her warmth really set the tone for the visit she was lovely.

We started with the roti canai (£7.90) to share — two pieces of warm, buttery Malaysian-style paratha served with a chicken curry. Coming from a Pakistani background, I found it familiar yet totally unique in flavour, as we also have paratha and curries in our culture — but the spices and pairings here were very different in a lovely way. For both of us (my friend is Somali), it was still a new and great experience. The roti had the perfect crisp-buttery texture, and the curry was fragrant and gently spiced — comforting and delicious.

My friend usually doesn’t enjoy overly spicy food, so the spice level throughout was ideal — fragrant and flavourful, but not overpowering. I’d describe it as mild to medium and really well-balanced.

For drinks, we went for traditional Malaysian choices to get the full experience.

My friend had the Sirap Special (£3.90) — a cold rose syrup drink with berry juice and ice. It was refreshing, lightly sweet, and pretty to look at too. I had the Sirap Bandung (£3.90) — a warm rose-flavoured drink made with condensed and evaporated milk. Slightly warm, creamy, and fragrant — absolutely perfect if, like me, you enjoy rose flavours. It was like a comforting, floral hug in a glass!

For mains, we both ordered the Nasi Kerabu — a stunning platter featuring blue butterfly pea rice, dried mackerel mixed with shredded coconut, boiled egg, sambal, cucumber, bean sprout and chilli salad, prawn crackers, and fresh veg.

I chose chicken rendang with mine (£13.90) — and it was the absolute star of the show. Deeply rich, aromatic, tender, and beautifully spiced. My friend went for the fried chicken option (£12.90) — crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned. Both dishes were visually beautiful, full of textures and vibrant flavours, and introduced us to a totally new way of enjoying rice dishes.

The portion sizes were very generous, the food was thoughtfully prepared, and the whole experience felt really intentional and made with care. The total cost for everything came to £42.50, and we both felt it was excellent value for money for the quality and quantity of food we received.

One of the loveliest touches is the photo wall filled with snapshots left by past guests — locals, international students, tourists from as far as Hong Kong. It gives the space a warm, inclusive, community feel. We even added our own photo — a memento of a beautiful Thursday spent over " good food and good company" - can't wait to see this addition to the board when we next visit.

If you’re looking to try something new in Coventry — something flavourful, vibrant, and made with heart — Warung by Evro Cafe is the place. It’s a true hidden gem, and we’re already planning our next visit there are so many dishes I want to try including the various broths and noodle dishes and desserts are next on our list too-the banana fritters with ice cream sound delicious!

I have really loved my introduction to Malaysian food and I can't wait to explore and learn more about this lovely cuisine- and it’s halal so big bonus!!! Thank you for a lovely experience and see...

What an excellent restaurant/cafe, stayed in the area for a training course and thankfully found Warung via a Google search done from the hotel. I initially ordered take away of: Nasi Goreng Kampung, Bihun Goreng and Mee Goreng all were excellent and tasted very good, the Bihun had some 'Wok Hey', the Rice was delicious with a generous amount of ingredients, the Mee Goreng had good authentic flavour and texture. The experience was enough to make me want to return the next day for breakfast: Nasi Karabu, Nasi Ayam Kicap and Sambal Udang, absolutely loved the Nasi Kerabu and Ayam Kicap, both large portions and lots of Malaysian sides making them both extremely satisfying, the sweetness of the Ayam Kicap was nice; best I've tried in the UK, the Sambal Udang was also delicious I enjoyed it very much NB: the spice level is well suited to the Malaysian taste. Everything was Sedap and I'd definitely recommend, if I'm ever back in the area I'll be sure to come here again. Additionally they serve different types of Kueh, my favourite is Kueh Bakar and really loved the one made at Warung (I took the whole tray...

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Highly Recommended! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I had an amazing experience at Warung Kafe today! Located on Corporation St in Coventry, Warung Kafe offers authentic Malaysian cuisine that truly transported me back home. As a Malaysian myself, I can vouch for the authenticity of the flavors.

The food was absolutely delicious! My family and I tried several dishes including Mee Kari, Nasi Kerabu with Chicken Rendang, Lontong Kering, and Nasi Lemak with Chicken Rendang. Every dish was seasoned perfectly and had just the right amount of spice. The taste was authentically Malaysian.

The service was fantastic; the staff were friendly, attentive, and even conversed with me in Bahasa Malaysia, which was a nice touch. The atmosphere was pleasant with decent decor, and they played some old school Malaysian rock songs, adding to the ambiance.

I highly recommend Warung Kafe to everyone, whether you’re Malaysian craving a taste of home or someone looking to explore Malaysian cuisine. You won’t be...

The food was banging, the staff were really nice too. I had been wondering about Malaysian cuisine for a while so I went in to treat myself after getting paid and I ordered the staple nasi lemak and sirap bandung, they warned me that the sirap bandung was gonna be too sweet but I actually thought it was right amount 9of sweetness, the chilli that came with the nasi lemak was potent but I thought that added to it and even though I have a lower spice tolerance than my siblings, I was able to handle it. I also ate with my hands, heard it was one way to eat it. The nasi lemak also had that sort of homemade feel, it is £8.90 for a serving of fried chicken nasi lemak, but it was worth it, the portion was actually really filling for someone who eats quite a bit myself(to shamefully admit) the fried chicken was also delectable, the crust was crispy and the chicken was juicy, I also liked the bits of peanuts, cucumber and boiled egg, would potentially come here again if I get paid again.

An absolute gem in Coventry! WARUNG by Evro Cafe has quickly become one of my go-to spots. Their nasi kerabu with chicken rendang is next-level—packed with flavour, beautifully plated, and incredibly satisfying. I also tried the nasi goreng—fragrant, hearty, and the perfect comfort food. To top it all off, their teh ais and teh tarik are wonderfully nostalgic, striking the perfect balance of sweetness and richness. The space has a lovely laid-back vibe, and the service is always warm and welcoming. It’s rare to find a place that nails Malaysian authenticity with such heart. Highly recommend to anyone craving something soulful and delicious.
