£26 for the saddest looking charcuterie board pictured below (minus a bite of cheese and bread we had already tried). The worst food I've eaten, I actually laughed when it arrived as I thought it was a joke for £26. Described as a selection of meats, cheeses, breads and other things. The cheese was cheap cracked and dry and just two small pieces. The bread was a stale bread roll, hardly edible. We actually left most of it. The salad was really dry and wilted like it had been left out in the sun all day and was described as rocket and balsamic salad, which it was not. Other Items described on the menu were missing from the board. When I said to the member of staff we weren't impressed with the size or quality of the products for the price we paid, she made up some excuses and said she had accidentally put it through as a single board, despite us paying for a sharer board, and it clearly going through on the till as a sharer. She then disappeared for 20 minutes and we were left wondering if she was coming back. 20 minutes later she appeared with a larger but still very sad looking board. It was full of random assortments such as coleslaw another bread roll, and other random things it looked like that had just panicked and scraped together from the kitchen. I explained we had now been here 45 minutes, we needed to leave as our parking was now up, so asked for a refund on the food. She argued saying she couldn't refund as she had given us the food we order Just on to seperate boards. I tried to explain again, we no longer wanted the board as it wasn't as described and taken a long time to come after we were given the wrong meal , but she made me feel like I was in the wrong. I told her again, we ordered 45 minutes ago, have already eaten half of the 'wrong order' which was barely edible and we now didn't have time. She then gave us a refund for half of our bill, charging us for a single person charcuterie board, despite the board, 1) not being what we ordered, 2) missing half of the items listen on the menu for it and 3) the products being very poor quality and tasteless, dry and old.

Stopped off while out for a cycle ride for breakfast. What an amazing spot! Sun trap outside seating or bi-fold doors and sit under cover. The breakfast was amazing, produce all locally sourced even the brown sauce was special (non of your HP crap). Service was excellent, coffees arrived in minutes and breakfast followed shortly after. The restaurant is right in the centre next to the pedestrian shopping street and a short distance off the Monsal trail. A great stop off point. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Incredibly good hearty locally produced breakfast, has to be the best breakfast I’ve ever had in my life, The other half the same, this place is very reasonably priced and in a very quaint town. Loved it thank you. Geordie Kate Dutch and Dylan the dogs

Should’ve read the negative reviews before wasting money, and also wasting huge amounts of time!

Stood by the ‘please wait to be seated’ sign for a good 10 minutes before some acknowledged us, awkwardly blocking the entrance/exit . Must’ve been another 15 minutes before someone came to ask us what we’d like. 2 scones and a pot of tea, nothing major.

A further 15 mins and still nothing. At this point we began to notice / overhear other disgruntled customers who were also waiting long amounts of time.

When our scones finally arrived we were extremely underwhelmed. They were smaller than the ones you’d find in supermarkets, they were tiny - and they fell apart when you picked them up. Talk about an anticlimax! The clotted cream seemed hard (possibly past its best before date?) and the jam we were given was in a ketchup-like pot and was a weird texture - a bit like jelly.

A total waste of £16.50 and an hour of our time. The only positives was that it’s nicely decorated inside and the staff, though extremely inattentive, were at...

Firstly I have to say the staff seem nice, but I have to focus on the food. It’s more expensive than a top restaurant in central Manchester for a Sunday dinner but it’s terrible!! I’m not exaggerating, it’s really basic frozen food kind of stuff. At a whopping price of £18.50 you really expect something TOP quality with lots of different things….. but Wetherspoons does a better / fancier roast. The veg looks like frozen / bagged veg you buy at the supermarket and you just get 1 small piece of broccoli, cauliflower and a few carrot sticks. A scoop of mash, and your meat or a soggy cheese and onion pie. The vegetarian option is worth no more than £10. It looks like it’s all come out of the freezer and just straight into the oven. Really really disappointed and in a time where we are all struggling for money, I feel pretty cheated out of £18.50! I don’t know how you can justify it with the lower prices other restaurants charge and the much better quality / portions of their food as well? Would not recommend the food , don’t...
