The Jewel in The Box — Restaurant in East Suffolk

This place really is a Jewel. So the "The Box" is a tiny multi-purpose space which hosts everything from a Saturday morning bakery, to The Jewel doing food, to art exhibitions... We had made an impromptu visit Southwold and then realised we'd stayed a bit late to get back to Aldeburgh and cook dinner. My wife really fancied something a bit more wholesome than fish and chips or pizza and at about 7.30pm, this place came up on Google so I decided to head over. The lady running it (Julie) is absolutely lovely! She was run off her feet but also cheery and in bright spirits. Given that they ask for pre-orders by 4pm for time slots throughout the evening, I was taking quite a chance by turning up shortly before 8pm. But Julie didn't bat an eyelid and said she could provide food after her 8pm order had gone... It really wasn't long at all and the food was every bit worth the wait. Everything was delicious!

I was going to try and get a pizza for my kids and when Julie overheard this she offered to make one especially for them despite it but even being on the menu. She even dropped it off to us at the Pier!

The pizza was as delicious as the curries and the children demolished it whilst also stealing copious amounts of our curries... In hindsight we needn't have ordered pizza as the curries and side veggies were so good and generously portioned that next time we're in Southwold we'll just buy an extra curry and have it as a family.
