Cheshire Oaks — Restaurant in Ellesmere Port

Visited here for lunch on a weekend. Food was better than ok. Not amazing but good. Portions were tiny (chips) as a side. Slightly embarrassing asking for more chips (but about 10 chips isn't a side) specially when my onion rings were forgotten. Must admit though when I brought this up my onion rings and some extra chips were brought out quickly. But like I say it's embarrassing and should have been there anyway. Steak was cooked how I wanted. Brought out promptly. Food was genuinely nice. I do see alot of people mentioning the cutlery here but in our case it was all clean. Glasses on the other hand were looking "smudgey" (not finger prints just looked unclean but I am picky)

The best thing about this place is the front of house. Oh how they were so lovely and looked after us. They were wonderful with my little one (Cristina I think is an angel) so engaging and sat us where my little one wanted to sit. Underpaid under valued but still smiling. This lady doesn't stop hard worker is an understatement she was always doing something. Greeting guests wiping tables serving food.

All in all would visit again. The front of house make up for the kitchen mistakes 100 times over. Service is just as important as the food. Price wise it's on the cheaper side being a hungry horse. 2 adults 1 child every had a main and a drink think it was under £40 which I think is really reasonable. (Maybe this is why they tried to penny pinch on my chips) Yes I'm still heartbroken over chips haha I'm a big potato fan 😂

Bar - quick service even on a busy weekend never more than 1-2 people Infront of you. Again barman appeared to be fighting a battle by himself. But polite well mannered and remembered no ice the 2nd time I went for a coke. Even though I forgot to say. So that's great that he remembered.

Didn't wait long to be seated only a few minutes, chose our food went to the bar to order food and drinks waited 20minutes to be served took drinks to the table (3 glasses of diet Pepsi 1 j20) and waited patiently for our food after a 35 min wait went to ask a young man who worked there how long our food would be he was very helpful came back to our table to say the food hadn't been started and we were looking at another 45minutes wait which was no good as by this point our film at the cinema would of started! So we asked for a refund as did not want to miss our film that we had already paid for! Upon going to the bar for a refund the middle aged lady who's name I did not catch gave us a refund but only a partial refund because we had drank our drinks we would have to pay for them! The way she spoke was rude and abrupt and as a good will jesture I feel we should of been refunded the whole balance as we were not informed of the wait time had we of know we would of chosen to eat somewhere else! Absolutely terrible service from this lady! Asked for a receipt for proof of refund said she could not give us one as only one had been printed out and she needed it. Would not recommend coming here and highly doubt me and my family will be attempting to eat there ever again! Will also be telling friends not to eat...
