Excellent meal! The Seafood Cafe menu boasts classic fish-based mains, small plates and appetising range of catch of the day (they also serve meat and vegetarian options but we didn't try them out). My party was made up of three people and we had: x3 fresh oysters on a bed of sea salt; x1 Chowder; x1 Mackerel (fish of the day); x1 Monkfish (also fish of the day); x1 roasted cauliflower on a bed of cauli mash; Nice (bottled) Cornish beer. The Chowder was very tasty, it came with mussels and bacon. Both fish were pan fried, the mackerel had mouthwatering crispy skin and the monkfish was deliciously tender. Both came with a side of roasted new potatoes and a lavish sauce made with capers, onion and butter. All portions were of good size and well presented. For dessert, we shared a sticky toffee pudding; it's not like we needed that to feel full! But we thoroughly enjoyed it, and I was particularly pleased with the toffee texture and nice swap of vanilla ice cream with Cornish clotted cream. The stuff sweet-toothed people's dreams are made of! The restaurant staff was courteous and service was very speedy. We wandered in without a reservation; luckily they had a table for us for 1 hour before the booked party arrived. I'd probably want to book next time around. The only thing this venue could improve is soundproofing the dining room. It was pretty loud and I could barely hear the people I sat in front of (I don't usually have hearing problems). Overall, a great restaurant for fresh fish in St Ives! Starred on my map and 100% recommended.

The food and service are fantastic. We had chosen some of the small plate options like Squid, King Prawns, Oysters x 8 (super fresh), Breads, and the Sea Food Chowder, our deserts were a Chocolate Torte and a Trio of Cornwall Ice Creams. This was all delicious and well worth the visit. If you are a seafood lover, then this is the place to book, the food was well prepared and cooked to perfection. On our visit, we had the unfortunate experience of having a really rowdy family of 9 behind us with exceptionally poorly behaved children, not to mention the total lack of parental control. The only reason there is a 4 star rating for the atmosphere is the lack of management not dealing with the situation and confronting the table and insisting that the families behave. Unfortunately, this went on for almost two hrs before they left.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here and I cannot sing its praises enough. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff and felt immediately at ease in the modern yet cozy atmosphere. The menu at Ardor is a dream for any food enthusiast - with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and innovative dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. I also appreciated the attention to detail in the presentation and the impeccable service from the staff. From the sommelier's wine recommendations to the dessert menu, every aspect of the dining experience was top-notch. Overall, Ardor exceeded all of my expectations and I cannot wait to return. If you are looking for a memorable dining experience in the area, look no further than Ardor. You won't be disappointed

There isnt a great atmosphere at the seafood cafe. The staff feel as if they are merely filling the food troughs for the herds that come in. They were polite for the most part but that is about it. The chowder was lovely and comforting but the portion is a little small and for a seafood chowder we expected more than just haddock and 5 mussels. The crusty bread with the chowder was very pleasant and crisp. The fish pie was fab and full of fish and big prawns. The whitebait was everything you'd expect from whitebait, nothing more, nothing less. The crab bruschetta was the best part of the meal, covered in crab and flavour. The meal was expensive for what we had but overall the seafood cafe is not bad or great it is satisfactory, however that is not enough to secure our return

I will rate this place with a 5/5 according to my scale. Food quality: 2.6/3 Ambiance of the place: 0.3/0.5 Authenticity/ innovativeness of the place: 0.4/0.5 Value/Price of the place: 0.4/0.5 Service of the place: 0.4/0.5 Total: 4.1/5 We ordered a pair of seared scallops with seaweed butter and porthilly oysters, the smoked mackerel fishcake, potted Cornish crab, and the mussels and chips. Other than the crab, which was okay, everything else was outstanding. The oysters were fresh and complemented by the onions, the seaweed butter under the scallops were amazing, and the sauce of the mussels was creamy and a delightful complement to the mussels. This is one of the best seafood places in St. Ives, and I would recommend everyone to come and try their food.

I'm really struggling to give this more than 3 stars which is a shame because of all the reviews we read which was one of the reasons we ate here. The place is big and has a real 'tourist' feel to it. The service was a bit all over the place. We had 6 oysters to start with and they came on a slate plate - by the time we had finished the ice they came on had melted and was all over the table. Nobody cleaned it up so we had to! The seafood chowder was fine. I had fish pie as main and it was good. My husband had the Sole and said it was OK. There was nothing wrong with the whole meal - it was just average.
