I canāt quite understand where the high reviews come from or why on earth so many people were here. Our breakfast here was lackluster and incredibly plain. Nothing presented in an appetizing way. Full English was a soupy mess with runny beans into everything else on the plate, very fatty cold bacon, eggs dry. Two bites in I couldnāt eat it. Tables are clustered together so tightly guests are bumping each other. The ambience is quite odd. Itās a very bare and sterile atmosphere. Staff struggled . We didnāt get our tea until after food. One coffee never came. Server seemed very confusedā¦. By absolutely everything. Big groups of workers came in, but no seats available. They ordered for take away. Once a table opened, they cut the queue and helped themselves to a seat . 3 of them with take away, 3 with packed lunches from home. Mucking about with outside food and taking up seats with a queue at the door. Very...
Read moreWe went in here as it was first place we came to beyond the museam gardens in York while we were visiting the Yorkshire Museum. It was a traditional tearoom, we each had baked potatoes with tuna mayo & a side salad with a dressing - it was delicious but a bit pricey. My 5 year old nephew had chicken nuggets, beans & chips that he enjoyed. He especially liked the large strawberry milkshake. We went in again for a cuppa & this time my nephew enjoyed a large banana milkshake. I had a piece of coffee & walnut cake with fresh squirty cream - it was very nice. Although it was pricey, it was very good quality so I don't mind too much to pay extra. The tea was £2.65 each which is a lot although the teapot size was good & it came with hot water so it went further. So many cafe's the tea comes in a small stainless steel teapot. Gladly it wasn't...

Accessibility wise, although there is a step at the entrance, they do have a ramp which they will employ as required. Due to the size of the venue, they have been unable to incorporate accessible restrooms. Although not perfect, Bailey's is opposite the main York Library, which I'm assured does have accessible facilities.
My only other point to note is that when busy, it can be a bit noisy, with background chatter and scraping of chairs across the floor not being great for me., but then I just pop in my ear plugs ! Well worth a...
