I went in with my mum because I had a lovely experience last time and recommended that we should go since the York Restaurant Week was on and a coupon for 2 desserts and 2 drinks for £15pp was available to use. Once we walked in the waiter only said hello and did not even ask how many people were needed to be seated so we had to say that we needed a table for two. It felt very awkward as even then he didn’t even show us properly where we could sit so we had to just follow him and then he gave us menus and didn’t even ask whether we were ordering on the app or not.
We asked the waiter about the coupon and it seemed like he didn’t even know about the coupons available to use for the couple of weeks. After finally getting to the checkout the coupon didn’t work on the app so we had to had to order with the waiter which was again an awkward process. After waiting for about 25 minutes the desserts were finally served. The portions were a lot smaller than last time I visited and the brownies I had were almost cold. The food was delicious but practically eaten in a few spoonfuls.
After we finished the server came without a tray and left a glass on the table without even coming back for it even though there were only us and another table in there. When we went to pay the code wouldn’t work again so we ended up not enjoying our time and wasting more money than we were meant to.
Overall, we won’t be coming in again, now we know the portion sizes.

Me and my mum went for the complimentary dessert and it was such a better experience. The waiter, Ali, was very pleasant and friendly and made sure we had the best experience. The food was delicious and hot this time and was served quickly. It’s nice to see how important the restaurant’s relationship is with their customers and how quickly they will help you to forget the negative experience you might’ve had the first time. Overall, the whole experience was very enjoyable and we will definitely be returning...
Read moreA few minutes ago, I visited Heavenly Desserts to speak in person with the general manager, Hamza. I was informed that he was not in the store at the time. A staff member then called another employee who claimed to be the manager, Nisa (Denisa) — the same person who had treated me rudely on previous occasions (which is why I had taken the time to write the previous reviews). She asked what it was about. I explained that I wanted to talk about a review I had discussed via email with the general manager, Hamza. I also mentioned that I would come back later as I was running late for an appointment — which was true — but that I could send her an email in the meantime. As usual, she treated me rudely, calling me a liar in front of another staff member who was by the door. With a mocking and superior attitude, she claimed to have screenshots of my review. I found it appalling that someone who claims to be a manager would try to humiliate a customer in such a way. It is also deeply concerning that the email I sent to the general manager ended up in the hands of someone clearly unqualified, who used it as an excuse to mock me. Disgraceful. Let me make one thing clear: I have no interest in receiving "free food" in exchange for my "silence". Posting a review — whether positive or negative — is a consumer’s right. However, using that review as an excuse to disrespect the customer (yet again) is another matter entirely. I will be reporting this to the appropriate authorities, as the general manager has not only failed to resolve the issue but has, in fact, contributed to exposing me.
(Just to make it easy for you, my name is Marcia. I am using this current email because I couldn't send my review using my...
Read moreAfter being invited back for a free visit, this second experience was so much better. I went for the Caramel Monkey Bread with a saffron latte…both delightful!
Lorien did the job of three people: a really hardworking yet incredibly friendly member of the team.

I had a mediocre experience when visiting here for the very first time: my friend and I were looking for a late-night dessert place while in York, and Heavenly Desserts looked to fit the bill.
After being seated, we browsed the plentiful choice of treats, and I opted for the Dark Chocolate and Pistachio croffle. When the server came to take our order, I was told that they had run out of croffles. It would have been handy to know this beforehand; I got the same flavour but in cookie dough form instead.
The dish my food came in was incredibly hot to the touch- a warning wouldn’t have gone amiss! The cookie dough itself was fine, if a little on the thin side. We asked for tap water that never arrived.
The Banoffee S’mores pancakes my friend chose came with a paltry distribution of toppings: five small pieces of chopped banana and a squirt of sauce.
The manager has since offered a complimentary meal for 2, so hopefully I’ll be able to come back here and...
