We are regular Bert’s customers and often get their take away pizza boxes so we were so disappointed with our experience.
We arrived around 12:20 and asked for high chair to which was told they only have 1 and it was being used by the table next to us. No one seemed bothered to help locate one epithet. we got up to leave as we weren’t going to feed our 18month old in her push chair (providing the food came out) I saw one at the entrance and asked if I could use that… problem solved.
Took our order just after 12:30 drinks came really quickly, starters came out after a 30min wait, didn’t take too long to eat so finished by 1:15 Food tasted really good so we were looking forward to our pasta dishes. By 1:30 we were still waiting for the table to be cleared and by 1:40 we asked for another drink and the waitress partially cleared our table and brought drinks asap.
At 1:50 We asked if our pasta was coming out as we had a hungry 8yr old and the 1 year old had fallen asleep. Manager came over and said she’s get it done really quickly… never came so just after 2pm we left. While leaving she said they food was just about to be brought out but we refused so she said she will go tell them to stop cooking...

Pasta dishes and cicchetti alike are served tapas-style, which works for more flavour-oriented genres of cuisine. Here however, the pasta dishes demonstrate a profile far too light and delicate to contrast against one another or work in tandem, a hallmark feature of their chosen plating style which here seems like a rather ill fit.
Whilst the price point is quite high, this is to be expected for the locale - but hardly reflects the quality nor quantity of offerings, and seems to be more a reflection of the ingredients invested in a given dish, than the expertise in assembling them together. The duck ragu tagliatelle and truffle-sage ravioli exemplified this the most, as their clumsy collages of tepid components were more akin to a salad or a stir-fry than a pasta dish.
Perhaps this establishment would be better for a quick drop in and nibbles with drinks, but if you're looking for a meal or something exotic - this is...

In order of appearance: the service, the food and the view are all of the highest quality here. All three courses for a very reasonable off season price. I’d happily have paid a third more. Everything prepared fresh with the best ingredients and with love obviously. I had the nachos as I’d never had pasta tortilla chips before. Excellent, and the chilli delicious. I think more of a sour cream as a dip rather than just mayonnaise but that’s me living near Mexico. Things are different here but in a better way. They’ve evolved what we love and that’s a treat. Equally the Alfredo and Tiramisu so very tasty. I’ve had both in Italy and I prefer this resturant. You can tell they are always tasting their product. This is very important. The proportions were exactly right for the richness of the food. Get there now in the quiet season. This place is going places. I only wish I had more time in Hull to...
