Lovely place in a lovely setting near to the marina. But after my experience I will not be returning. Drove 2 hours to meet family for a 30 birthday party. The party was booked weeks in advance but the staff some how messed it up . We had booked for 22 people to eat. Well the fun starts with they had not even reserved the seating area for the party. The Taphouse is a large single spacious room in a former fruit merchants Warehouse. It has been really well converted. I had been meaning to come here for some time as it is listed in the camra national Good Beer Guide and I was not disappointed. There is an excellent selection of hand pulled cask conditioned real ales and real draught cider. There is also an extensive range of other beers and Lagers. Food is served lunch time and evenings. Me and my partner ordered a rice bowl and ramen, and they were genuinely painful to eat on account of them both being dowsed in chilli oil and chilis, this would be fine however the menu didn’t mention anything about chilis on either dish. We couldn’t eat the meals for the heat, we informed staff and instead ordered a burger to share, we paid and sat down, to then be informed the kitchen was closed and we had to order something else, which had to being ‘anything fried’ from the small plates menu.
