Attended with my good friend who has a health condition -asked if we could have two plates to share the sandwich as she has very small appetite- no problem when food was served by most obnoxious staff Alex she publicly shouting at us next time we ask for 2 plates we will be charged- 70p asked why and it was for the wilted, day old garnish to fill the plate - she should have spoken to the staff taking order not public try to Humiliate customers - everyone turned to look A nice pleasent afternoon a rare day out for both of us ruined by Alex - other staff were very nice after her outburst but she has cost at least 5 regular customers for John- oh and we never ate the garnish as we never asked for it - coffee was like warm too - overcrowded inaccessible to anyone with a disability as toilets 2 flights upstairs - if your a wheel chair user do not embarrass yourself by trying to get in

Went for lunch with ex-step mother-in-law and daughter for lunch. I didn’t try the chocolates but they looked very good, as did the large selection of cakes. I had the steak pie with new potatoes and veg and it was delicious. Nice and hot and just like home made. A main course was £10.95 which is a bit pricey but well worth it. For another £3 you could add a starter or dessert which made it good value, but I was full. The decor is a little old fashioned, but the place was clean and the staff were very friendly. Nice to find an independent place to eat in a world of fast food chains. Central location too. Would definitely recommend

I must be cautious not to drum-up too much trade for Bonnet's, I'd hate to cause any change their perfect formula. On the several occasions I've stopped here for a much deserved coffee I'm never disappointed. So, dear reader, be warned that you must endure a warm cosy atmosphere staffed by helpful friendly folk, fast on their feet without compromising on quality or the service of fine food (the home-made chips are sublime) and, of course, the consistently excellent coffee. It's a top-notch place! Please, if you're unsure, just pass on by and leave them unburdened to weave their magic, they don't need the stress...

Really disappointing lunch experience - unlikely to go back. We ate upstairs as it was quite busy downstairs. Waitress came and took our order: minute steak baguette and a chilli chicken baguette, a pot of tea and a beer. She asked twice whether we wanted white or brown bread (brown). The drinks came and without asking who ordered what, our drinks were served the wrong way round. She left and we swapped. Then exactly the same thing happened with our food. We started eating - I thought my partner's food looked different to the menu description but that sometimes happens. After a couple of bites we tried each others. My partner had actually been given a thai salmon baguette (him: I thought it tasted odd!) and at that point I realised that both our baguettes were white. So, we'd probably be given someone else's order but there were no waitresses to ask and we were in a hurry. We decided to say something the moment someone appeared. After we'd finished, a waitress came up and my partner heard her desperately apologising to the table behind us. We'd obviously been given their order. When she came to us, we expressed our disappointment that we hadn't got what we wanted. Her response: "Well, you've eaten it but don't worry, it's the same price". No apology, no understanding that we needed to get somewhere else quickly. Could easily have been avoided if staff had been trained to announce the dishes they were serving, especially if they don't know who's ordered what. A courtesy knocking the tea off the bill would have been enough but there wasn't even a mention of it when we paid. So although the food was ok, the customer service was in my opinion,...
