Went for a birthday meal due to the reviews. I have to say we were not impressed. Luckily it was cheap. There wasn't much for children but our fault for not reading the menu. Our food was just okay and we didn't feel comfortable in there. I literally am unable to describe it other than meh! Not sure what the ladies role was that took our order but came across as very controlling and we would have prefered to speak the first gentlemen who greeted us. Unfortunately we won't be returning but wish them the best. Response to the owner. While the pictures look good the food didn't taste of much. My opinion. I can have that. We didn't want fish and chips so thank you for that comment. If I wanted fish and chips I would have gone to a fish and chip shop! Plenty of them. Try to take it as it is. All the best.

Superb -dont be put off by the exterior looks or the takeaway tag this has on Google maps ! Yes it does do takeaways -pizza ,pasta etc -but the real speciality here is the fresh food . When you walk in ( entrance is not the front door -thats now the exit in these covid times -head down the shopping arcade to the right -the entrance is there ! Inside isn't that inviting either -plain tables dotted here there and everywhere -but carefully placed to be at least 2+m apart for your safety . The drinks list is quite reasonable-either beers or wines. They have starters .sharing starters -pizza, pasta -chicken meat and fish dishes ! All very very fresh -nicely presented by staff who will fetch /carry everything to your table . This place is worth seeking out -because the food is superb ! Easy to recommend!

This place was mine and my friends saving grace when The Grand Hotel's food failed us miserably. Just a short walk away from our hotel was the hidden away restaurant. The restaurant has a menu on the outside which is handy if you like to know prices before you go into a place. Upon entry the staff serve you quickly and get you seated. The food is fairly priced for the portion sizes you get. The staff are friendly and know how to make you feel welcome which is lovely. Unfortunately I couldn't order desert as I was full from my starter and main. I will return to this restaurant again.

You are so very unprofessional. Your reply to this just proves that. I'm in Scarborough now and staying very close to your restaurant actually. This is in no way a fake review! I was a paying customer who was very unhappy. Learn good customer service!

Each time I come to Scarborough for my holiday I'm reminded of my awful experience in this restaurant. So much so that I'm still compelled to write about it four years later. It seems that in those four years the restaurant is still the same going by recent reviews. I walked in today and approached a small lady at the bar who immediately told me I came in the wrong way and I should have used the other entrance. There was no indication of this on the entrance I used. I asked if they had a table for one. I was asked by the rude woman to remove my mask. I don't think English was her first language. Another much nicer lady came over and told the other woman to seat me at the front. The rude woman abruptly handed me the menu. She returned to take my order and was still quite abrupt with me. I was given cutlery. Another younger lady who was lovely came and asked if I had placed a drinks order which I had. My drink came shortly followed by the food. The food was lovely and quite cheap. Huge portion and I couldn't eat it all. The lovely lady came out to ask if I was enjoying it. When I had finished she came to take my plate and asked if I would like the left overs boxing up but I declined and told her the food was delicious. I asked the rude woman for the bill and she loudly placed the plate down on the table. I began to place coins on to the plate and she seemed annoyed I was paying with pound coins (it was all I had). The food was nice but I will not return simply because of the way the one rude woman treat me. The rest of the staff were really nice. She lets them down. Whilst I was eating this rude woman seated two other parties of people and was happy and smiley and treated them with respect. I don't know what I did to upset her.

The reply on trip advisor from the manager(??) was: claudiol956 Hi there is plenty of indication on all door which one is to us the front door have a big sign do not enter also on front door outside a map which one to use also trough out the restaurant inside which is the exit so please do not lie are no sign this is not true this review will be reported for false information. We have put in place since reopening all the respected sign required and station required for your safety. Photos of this will be given to...

Disappointed, busy Saturday night on a bank holiday but no staff (one waitress and the owner)

Drinks arrived with glasses fresh out of the dishwasher, would have appreciated it if I was drinking tea, but a warm beer on a stifling night in a small restaurant is not my idea of fun.

Pizza was raw on the bottom, also had poorly prepared white onions as a replacement for balsamic red onions (tut tut)

I am a chef by trade and Italian is my strength, the reason the pizza was raw is because the stones in the oven had been overworked and therefore cooled down, I could clearly see lots of other diners eating pizza which explained the issue but to serve half cooked dough is simply lazy, I would have preferred to wait for the oven to get back to temperature, if only the owner had come over to speak with us, I guess being so understaffed had a detrimental impact on his ability to ensure his diners were happy.

I saw no reason to raise issue as it was obvious that the owner was happy for these practices to take place, I saw him personally in the kitchen numerous times, I settled my bill and left.

Absolutely would...

This restaurant looks very unassuming on the outside but please don't let this put you off, because the food is cooked in an authentic manner and is absolutely delicious. It is the only restaurant in, Scarborough that I have dined in twice as I appreciate fine food. The waiters are more than helpful, lovely friendly service. More than average portions, (which is always a bonus when eating out) The prices are very reasonable. Well done.👍🏽 I am looking forward to taking my family here when they next visit me and I'm sure that they will not be disappointed. 👍🏽 Update :My partner and I went for a meal on Valentines day (2025)and again wasn't disappointed. The food is still amazing. The staff very helpful and friendly.i had the arranchini with the special pull apart garlic bread. The pizza for main(toppings of parma ham, tuscany sausage and mushrooms. I couldn't eat it all, but took it home and had it the day after. For dessert, the cheesecake with ice-cream was out of this world. We can't...
