Booked a table for 7th Sept for 5.30 on Friday. When arrived it was fairly busy with a party table.

A lady who took our order I presumed was new as she kept coming back to the table with mistakes to order. Which I could see from my table over to the till a supervisor was trying to sort out.

Food was abit slow due to the party table and my partner was losing his patience. Took 40 minutes for food to come out. There’s no ventilation In The restaurant, the kitchen is viewable from every angle of the restaurant and no ventilation anywhere. It was soo steamy and hot I felt like opening the porch doors behind me.

If the person on the phone stated they recommended coming earlier due to a party we would have arrived earlier. To have recieved better service.

Couldn’t fault the food the food was amazing. But it was the first time my boyfriend was losing his patience. We did mention before leaving that the food was amazing but service was really slow.

By the time we was leaving there was already a huge amount of teens cramping inside the reception/entrance area for a 18 yr old party.

On the way out we had to squeeze out between these teens drinking bottles of lager . Which the last lad standing near door burped In my face as I headed out the door.

My boyfriend was walking in front of me In a single file and he didn’t see what happened. But when I told him outside he got aggravated and that he was going to go back in and confront this teen. But I said leave it.

If it wasn’t for the food we would have marked you down to a 1/2 star.

Was disappointed especially our first time in Scarborough. We felt like we should have gone to the Italian restaurant Tuscany Too I originally wanted to go, but there was more options at el gringos that my boyfriend could choose of the menu.

After having a good experience in Whitby we was massively let down by our experience in...

During this world wide pandemic the government had offered a "help to eat out" scheme and we were so glad that El Gringos was one of the restaurants to be joining in as myself and my partner had never been but were keen to go as many of our friends and work colleagues have told us of how amazing and delicious the food was here not to mention the cocktails, we were only put off by the price as we were not sure if we'd like it or not so naturally we took advantage of this deal. We booked a table for 9pm but arrived early but this was no issue and was seated right away and was told about their track and trace system, where the toilets were etc which was lovely to know about (rather than awkwardly wondering around the restaurant looking for the bathroom) we ordered drinks which were quickly brought to our table within 5 minutes which I thought was brilliant considering how busy it was, both myself and partner had a hard time choosing what we wanted to eat as the menu was large with many mouthwatering options (and vegetarian options) in the end we chose to get some nachos as a starter which was definitely enough for the two of us to share and I went for a vegetarian burrito and my partner went for the ribs. All the food was amazing and delicious and definitely filled us right up! The staff were all extremely friendly and always had a smile on their face (I hope as they were all wearing masks) this created a nice and relaxed atmosphere. Overall we'll definitely be back even when it's back to...

What a shame....We have used this restaurant so many times since it has opened & sadly our recent visit was extremely disappointing! The owner wanted to close before closing time & was parading up & down the restaurant making customers feel uneasy to say the least, he came over to our table & lifted our wine cooler with our bottle of wine (with wine still inside) & proceeded to carry it away! We told him to put it back & he insisted on pouring it! We told him we would pour it ourselves when we were ready as we were still eating our meals! After this happened we told him his manner was terrible & we would not be rushed. The owner then proceeded to swear terribly at us to the extent we considered calling the police....which he said we should do! This man was squaring up to my husband whilst we sat at our table & his son had to man handle him away from the table!!! We have never been treated so bad in a restaurant before, what a disgrace the owner truly is, he does not deserve any...

First of all I decided to take no pictures of the building itself, it's currently undergoing massive renovations and I decided it would be unfair to show it as it is, don't be put off by the work, the food is great. We started with the nachos, it's ment for one but it's huge and will easily feed two as a starter, it was also excellent with properly melted cheese (far too many places don't do this). Next up was a chicken and beef chimichanga served with rice and black beans, again this was excellent, I went for the hot variety (you get to select the heat) it was warming, but not overly hot, although heat is a matter of taste. My partner had the chilli bowl, the bowl itself is a crispy tortilla, this was medium and again was delicious. The place is informal and child friendly, the staff are polite and friendly. The portion sizes are large and incredibly good value for money. Again don't be put off by the current building works you won't be disappointed by the food.

Absolutely epic food from here! I'd walked past this place many times and last week I decided to give it a try and I was certainly not disappointed. So much so I went twice in one week. The menu has lots of options both Mexican and slightly more English on it that you can customise to your liking if necessary. The portion size is a lot bigger than your usual restaurants which is certainly fine by me. My meal arrived in good time and was piping hot. Piping hot food is always a sign of a well run kitchen and restaurant. My meal was absolutely epic. I had the chicken and steak combo. The steak was lovely and the chicken just fell of the bone as it should. The cajun sauce was amazing and the best I've ever had. Not too over the top but some nice throat warmage going on. The staff were very friendly and polite. Thank you all for a fantastic meal. I have already recommended El Gringos to several of my friends and will continue to do so.
