Popped in for food, drink, and a sit down on Sunday, 10th August, 2025 at around 12pm.

My soy intolerance was taken seriously and ingredients were checked and shown to me at the time of ordering, giving me confidence in what I was about to eat. There was no look of horror when I told the staff I needed to avoid soya (as there often is in other places), they just dealt with it in their stride.

Staff were courteous and helpful throughout, but not intrusive so we could enjoy our meal in peace.

The food and drinks arrived promptly and was very nice.

Tables were very clean and so were the chairs (something that's often overlooked in other establishments). Condiments and menus were also clean. I had to pop upstairs to the toilets and was surprised to see a large seating area up there, unused at the time but still looking clean. The toilets were immaculate, which during peak season at the seaside was a surprise.

We will definitely go back next time we're in...

Visited today. Ordered the Special: ‘fish’ and chips, which was served quickly. I’d hazard a guess that the fish was not fresh, cooked from frozen with a generic mass produced batter.

The ‘fish’ was oh so oily, the chips bland and dry, and the scolding hot peas rescued from their 5 minute spell in the microwave, zapping them of everything that makes a pea, a pea. The curry sauce had the consistency of dishwater and the aroma to match.

It was such a disappointment, and I left feeling sad. I would have explained these sentiments to the staff, but they didn’t ask.

My advice to the cafe is to stop stocking up at Booker, and focus on the fish that is caught on your doorstep instead.

Went in here today wish we hadn't bothered, had fish and chips, fish was soggy and slimy staff stood at the front constantly looking over at us, my wife wasn't even finished her dinner before the plate was whipped out from under her then asked if she had finished, they all looked as if we where in there way, my daughter takes a while to eat as she is 4 and they started cleaning table around us, as a paying customer we felt as if all they wanted is the money, I will never go here again worst fish I...
