UPDATE: I left a great review here in the winter, so when we were back to Scarborough in June, this was the first place we wanted to eat at. Unfortunately, we faced very unwelcoming treatment. We booked a table. When we appeared, a staff member asked us to go for a walk and come back in 10 minutes, because the table was not ready. When we got back 10 minutes later, there was a line and people who came there after us and had bookings for later hours got tables before us. We waited 15 more minutes, standing by the door, weren't offered drinks or anything. After finally getting a table, we decided to drink some wine and share one pizza, partially because we weren't very hungry, but also because it was very loud, the staff was running around visibly stressed, and we felt rushed. The waiter looked at us like we were joking and said in a very unpleasant tone "only one pizza?", shaked his head and stormed away. Five minutes later, another person came and asked us to move to another table because they needed the one they originally placed us at for a bigger group of people. We were moved to a tiny table in the corridor by the toilet. The "only one pizza" came with partially unbaked dough (I am gluten-intolerant and this dough needs more time in the oven which apparently was forgoten due to the rush). We felt unwelcomed, rushed and shamed for a small order. I've never faced treatment like that before. I leave more than one star, because I appreciate places that offer gluten-free and vegan options.

Food and prices reasonable, but nothing special or authentic. The atmosphere is quite loud and not at very 'Italian' in decor or experience. There are three different side salads on the menu; as a vegan and looking for something suitable, I asked about these but the difference was apparently unknown to the staff so took a guess. Salad was small and unimaginative, with tiny amounts of avocado and tomatos. Advice to management would be that these would make ideal vegan mains if bulked up with nuts, seeds, beets, beans and avocado! I asked for chillis with my pasta which came drenched in oil. On the service, one of the waiters was very short with me, making me feel very awkward, impatient and harried in his interaction with me, especially when making an assumption about my wanting lime cordial in a soda water rather than actual lime as asked. Honest mistake, but he was less than personable! I even apologised if I'd upset him by sending the drink back to his colleague (himself very helpful and gracious; the tall gentlemen). The pasta itself however - although no brown option available - was nice and hot and tasty. Very limited and basic vegan/veggie options :( A decent place overall; clean. Service and atmos is lacking though, and is like a canteen rather than an authentic Italian experience, but good for a quick standard dinner.

Very nice Italian restaurant located in the town centre. Very nice main menu with plenty of options. The chicken I had was cooked lovely and tasted amazing. Very busy restaurant so will be to book a table to avoid disappointment. It was hard sometimes to get the attention of staff to take plates away or to order food/drinks. Avoid the desert menu, as not much choice and very expensive. You got small slices of cakes and cheap ice cream. Best latte I've had in a long time. Overall nice restaurant with lovely main menu, just avoid desert as very expensive for what it is.

The food was nice, but unfortunately it was spoiled by the service. Myself and my daughter went here to eat on Friday 26th around 7-8pm. And I was asked in a quite unfriendly Manner whether we had a booking or not, almost as if to say if we didn't then go away. I explained I spoke to a nice lady on the phone 15 minutes prior, and she said they had spaces, but wasnt asked for our name to save us a table, so explained id assume there was tables available. Anyway, we got sat down. Wasn't once asked how our food was in the whole of our visit. Hense why we didn't order a dessert. I found this quite rude, as I would expect a restaurant like this to ask us. I was also quite shocked how every table around us was asked how their food was. Maybe if I was a regular I may have recieved this service. Or maybe if I was a pretty lady, because I soon saw the waiter who served us attitude change and eyes light up when a nice lady was present! The lady who brought our drinks out though, was lovely, she was polite and I wish she had served us throughout the whole of our visit if I'm honest. On top of this, I was given my bill, and noticed it was a bit more than I was expecting it to be. I noticed that I was charged for 2 extra pints of alcohol. I said to the waiter, why am I paying £14 for 2 fantas on this bill. As that's the only drinks myself and my daughter had. The waiter tried explaining that because that's the drinks I ordered. And tried explaining the bill to me, I told him 3 maybe 4 times, I refuse to pay £14 for 2 fantas! Especially when they are listed as £3.50 I belive each! He kept trying to word his way around it, when eventually I said I refuse to pay for it, go speak to the owner or something. When eventually the lady who bought out our drinks, shouted over mo them 2 was only served 2 fantas. So they took the 2 pints of alcohol off. It was quite embarrassing that I had to explain this 3 or 4 times to the waiter and lended up arguing with him at my table. It was like I was speaking a different language. I have to give it to the manager, or owner, he did apologise for the inconvenience, but then literally shouted at the waiter pretty much where everyone could hear about his mistake. If I was not with my 7 year old daughter I would have made a bit more of a deal about the service I recieved here, as it was well below expectations and I wish I had...

Myself and my husband were in Scarborough for the weekend for our wedding anniversary. We came across Pomodoro on Saturday night at 8.15pm and decided it would be nice to eat there, how wrong we were.

Upon entering we were 'greeted' by a man in a check shirt, my husband asked if they had a table, "have you booked" "no" my husband replied. The man eye rolled walked off, came back grabbed menu's and clipped "this way" and ushered us into the restaurant. My husband asked "may we sit in the window" ? "Thats where you're going" the man in the check shirt snapped. "Here's your menu's" thrust at us and he walked off. He comes back "you ready"? I say "no" may we have drinks, so we order drinks,my husband tries to make conversation with him to no avail, the man takes the order and off he goes. He comes back, slams my drink on the table, my husband tries to make conversation again with him as the server is opening his beer, nothing.... "Ready now" ? He asked, so we ordered, no thank you, no chit chat, nothing, we felt really uncomfortable. He didn't bring the food another server did. The food was pretty good it was hot, well cooked and tasty. We would have liked to have been table checked to ask for more drinks or more parmesan etc....nothing. The man server only came back as I was still eating and he asked "you done"? I snipped "no" I'd had enough of his unprofessional attitude by this time. We finished our food, drinks and did not wish to stay there any longer.

As we went to pay we were asked "if everything was ok" by the guy who'd served us, my husband said "no" and went on to explain why. The man snipped "we're busy" no apology, nothing. We left....

Myself and husband are restaurateurs'/chefs and have been for many years, so we are speaking from experience. The food was very good, the decor and ambiance lacking, FOH dreadful. The man in the check shirt who served us was rude, lacking any kind of social skills whom I could only akin him to would be Basil Fawlty.

It was 8.15pm when we walked in, they close at 9pm. If you still wish to eat here please do because the food is very good, (well done Chefs) just make sure you book and go early as Basil Fawlty doesn't...

Visited on a Monday during summer holidays, walked in approx 5.30 and luckily could be seated. We hadn't booked anywhere as wasn't planning on eating tea in town but th kids were hungry. Two adults two children in group. With two vegetarians. The gentleman who greeted us upon entry was a bit stern and so was one of the waiters but I guess this is their character accordtto my husband 😂 the service was great don't get me wrong th y got the job done it's just a bit more warmth and friendlyneas would have been great. All other staff members we encountered were lovely and warm natureed. When we entered (there's two doors which we found random lol ). We walked past the kitchen and second area along with display cabinets of ingredients and prepared foods it looked fab. The food options seemed typical for an Italian restaurant with the usual pizza pasta and salad with a nice few extras in the mix. We ordered kids pizzas , a regular pizza and then two pasta dishes with a garlic bread for the table and it came out fresh and hot within moments we were very impressed, food was absolutely delicious and not too bad price wise either.. parmesan bought to th table was a nice bonus too and felt we could use it without any one watching our generous cheesy portions 😂 The drinks selection was great and the waiter even praised my husband for choosing his drink which made us all smile as we has his authentic seal or approval. There was a toilet available and it was clean and fresh. With ramp access throughout reateraunt for wheelchair or prams etc. we all had a great tasting meal and was pleasantly surprised when the bill came it was quite reasonable pricing for us all to have an evening meal. We felt a little rushed once we had finished our meal to pay up and go but I guess they had bookings etc and we weren't gonna hang around anyways we just felt a little pushed out th door 😂 we couldn't fit in dessert so not sure if the selections information. All in all a really nice authentic Italian...
