Although One Of My Friends Ordered A Gluten Free Fish? It Appeared As Though The Batter Just Looked Like Our Normal Ones? … And In The End? It Turns Out It Wasn’t. So My Friend Started Feeling ill Once We Payed And Left? But That Doesn’t Deserve A Marking Down? Since She Still Enjoyed It And It Was A Fairly Busy Day? And Too Be Honest? We Don’t Know For Sure? … Anyways … We Were Satisfied With Our Meals And Service? So We Payed And Tipped Our Server And We Left With Full Stomachs… … Honestly On That Day I Gotta Thank The Servers For Being So Kind And Generous? Making Us Feel Loved? While We Were Eating? We read the chip shop reviews beforehand in ready for our recent trip to York. Drake's was near to our regular apartment with great reviews so decided to give it a try.

OMG the best Fish and Chips we both have EVER had...ten stars and then some.

Two of us (adults) had takeaway regular haddock each... one portion of chips to share... one of us curry sauce the other mushy peas...took them back to our apartment and OMG the haddock just melted in the mouth the batter tasty and the perfect ratio to the fish. Tasted both the curry sauce AND the mushy peas both really tasty. We had some bread and butter with it and were stuffed. Originally asked for the large haddock and they only had regular but it was honestly enough and fantastic value for money.

So on the day of departure decided to go to the resturant part. There was a queue in which we were offered to wait 15mins or book a table and come back. We decided to wait. Very quickly... less than 10mins later we were taken to our table. We ordered the haddock and chips each...again the regular which came with tea and a side. We again had the mushy peas and curry sauce. Beautiful tasty lunch...tea too. We ordered an extra side of bread and butter...a thick slice of fresh bread and an individually wrapped butter each. Lovely tasting bread.

We were not rushed even though they were busy. Filling...tasty...hot and again fantastic value for money.

York is full of eateries with lots of choices...if fish and chips is your thing this place is a MUST.

Staff are very polite and professional... the food A class. What more could you want?

You must try it I will guarantee you will be delighted. Whilst waiting in the queue we spoke to other York regular visitors like us and they said exactly the same thing.

Maybe even try the deep fried Mars bar...IF...
