When a restaurant calls itself a brasserie, we expect quality, after all brasserie means in the style of a French restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience of Farrer's was far from this. The bar staff who took my order was inexperienced, made mistakes . After I'd paid, I was told the IPA I'd ordered and paid for wasn't available, I'd also asked for half a guinness, I said their alternative version would be fine, was given a pint because they only do it in cans. A waiter cleared the table of previous customer's pots, but I had to ask for the table to be wiped. When I told a waiter our table wobbled, a lot, he said they all do, suggested that I use napkins to put under the feet of the table. He came back attempted to adjust the table with napkins. In the end, he swapped our table for one that didn't wobble but only after I'd persisted and again, I had to ask for it to be wiped. It was waiter service but we sat for 15 minutes until we managed to catch the attention of a member of staff just to clear the table and had to ask them to wipe the mess that had been left from the previous customers, which was done half heartedly. We then waited a further 15 minutes for someone to take our order. The drinks never arrived and so we left due to the poor service. If it had been busy, the poor service might have been acceptable but there was clearly a lack of training, poor management and inexperienced staff who were not very observant and couldn’t care less regarding customer service. Outdoor and inside dining and a wide range of menu, reasonable to high ish prices. Good selection of wines and beers
Great to sit out on a nice day watching the sea in this relaxed venue, away from the central busy areas.
Really near the beach and cliffs walking. Car parking can get busy so best to walk to.
Next to Spa Hotel and theatre so lots to see/do Gifts shops (a few) next door of the kids get bored :-)
