Foresters Arms Bedford — Restaurant in England

When some friends suggested that we meet up here and I was wondering why the hell they would want to go to this old dump. Well, as it turns out, things have changed a lot since I last went.

Pro's Looks fantastic inside and out. Lovely garden. Nice comfy chairs in the lounge. Polite and friendly staff. Great selection of drinks on tap. Really good food. Out of the way from the "townie" crowd. Great place to meet up before heading off into town. Great place for quiet comfortable drink and/or food.

Con's If you're visiting in the daytime, free parking is an issue. Maybe a bit expensive.

Summary They've done an awesome job of bringing this place back from the dead and it's well worth a visit. The four of us who went all ordered food, and despite all of us thinking the food was a tad expensive we all throughly enjoyed what we ordered. I would especially recommend ordering a scotch egg. unfortunately I arrived just after the kitchen closed, having walked to 2 other places advertising that food was available. 1 was not serving anything I would describe as acceptable for an evening meal or even wholesome. The other was randomly just in a state of Doors locked at 8.45pm. Nevertheless This pub, like most others, failed to offer a decent pumped dark stout or porter but had a very decent can alternative in the fridge (doesn't sound like a big deal but you would be surprised how most places don't do this) I was quickly subject to a friendly and informative chat with the barman and 2 locals. I’ve been meaning to visit here for some time now, but the limited opening hours during the week hasn’t made it possible. Finally I got the chance but after popping in early on a weekday afternoon I doubt I’ll be returning. On arrival bar staff were no where to be seen but after a few minutes someone finally arrived from round the back. There’s a good enough range of drinks and prices not too bad, and I made the most of the weather by choosing to sit in the garden. This was a bit of a dirty space and certainly didn’t feel very comfortable. I’d have chosen to have my next drink inside, but again there was no one available to serve and I eventually gave up and left.
