Franco Manca Hove — Restaurant in England

Came for breakfast and they got it wrong for the second time this month! We love this place, it’s got beautiful decor and the layout is lovely , we had problems the first time with cold coffee and receiving the wrong breakfast order! But it was remedied quickly , so went back today to see how it was, coffee was hot! Bit of confusion over sugar and sweetener with the waitress but got there in the end! We ordered and waited, and then waited some more, there were 7 customers on 3 tables, including us , so not busy! We kept hearing the ding of the chef bell but could see no food coming out, then a guy came over to ask how it was!! We said we didn’t know as we hadn’t eaten yet! He went off to investigate and after waiting a total of 35 mins, our food arrived! My eggs royal looked great but was cold, so obviously the bell ringing had fallen on deaf ears and it had been sitting a while !! Was to hungry to wait another 35 mins so ate it quickly! My friends veggie breakfast was really good, so not all bad, but wouldn’t want to visit when...

This was our first time ordering from Franco Manca via Uber Eats. Unfortunately (and at no fault of the restaurant) we were assigned a delivery driver who had zero intention of picking up our food meaning that over an hour later (when we were finally assigned a new driver) the food arrived cold.

We called up the restaurant and explained the situation only to be told that there was nothing that they could do and to “reheat the food in the oven once it had arrived”.

Followed by “we cannot create a new order for you as this would mess up our inventory and we would lose £30”.

We did not expect the restaurant to remake our food, however you would have thought that they would at least want to help in some way?

I’m guessing £30 is not worth the possibility and loyalty of a returning customer (in turn making them more money?)

Nonetheless, the food was actually good despite it being cold, and the woman that I had spoken to on the phone was very pleasant - so...

We visited Franco Manca for lunch for the first time yesterday and would thoroughly recommend it. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm and friendly welcome from the manager, Enzo, and his team. The restaurant has a cozy, traditional Italian feel and the food was fresh and delicious. The pizzas were cooked to perfection and the salads, olives and breads were beautifully presented and full of flavour. Service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for Enzo and his staff. The meal was not expensive and excellent quality. There was more than we could eat and our waitress was more than happy to put the leftovers into a box for us to take away.
