GRAND CENTRAL BAR — Restaurant in England

My favourite place for a cooked breakfast in Torbay. Everything they do, they do it well with good portions, good quality, clean, friendly and reasonably priced.

Ordered the full English breakfast with extra bubble and squeak (99p), lovely as always. The bacon is exceptional and thick and not everywhere does fried bread but Grand Central does and nicely. Black pudding nice and a good amount of beans + tomato not watery, hash brown notably crispy and not average like many places. The sausages were just "ok" but not bad at all. Proper Heinz ketchup in a bottle + a nice flat white coffee. Daughter had pancakes with maple syrup with a nice hot chocolate with marshmallows which she loved.

Place clean and tidy and tables always cleaned and tidied quickly by the efficient staff. Even though lots of TV screens and sport it is not a blokey den and has a nice atmosphere with low background music and young, old and families there. Licensed bar and change over time for breakfast about 11:30am-ish as they clean the kitchen ready for the next menu.

This was my first visit to Paignton as I was visiting a friend. We were staying at the Travelodge, on the sea front, and their food was vile. Therefore, I said we’d eat out and we ended up here at Grand Central.

Really impressed by the friendly and welcoming staff, and the excellent full English breakfast that we had.

I was not looking to fault the experience, and couldn’t find anything anyway.

I’m definitely coming back the next time I visit my friend, as we will be staying a hotel much closer to this establishment.

I totally forgot to take a picture of my meal, but it was so good that I left only an empty plate! So, I think that speaks for itself.

The service was genuinely so friendly and welcoming, no one in my group felt awkward to ask for anything, not that anything extra was needed however as the food and drinks were fantastic, there's a selection of meals for children too so there were no issues there, portion sizes are generous, even for side dishes. It was relaxing and not too loud too, despite it being a decently-hot day at lunch time, music is kept at a gentle volume so you can still hear conversations, overall amazing experience and would definitely recommend to all, 5/5...
