This thai restaurant is conveniently located next to all the local amenities. I went for a meal here on Sunday evening. I pre-booked my table in advance. I was greeted by the staff and then taken to my table. The restaurant looked clean, tidy, and spacious. The tables were laid out nicely leaving reasonable space between each other.
The menu offered a good range of dishes and they were reasonable prices for the area. The chicken with spicy basil is worth sampling. I will mention the rice portions are tiny for all the dishes I tried.
The overall service from start to finish was good. Waiters were checking if everything was ok, topping drinks up, etc. Although the service was slow but worth the wait because the food was cooked fresh and the restaurant that evening appeared to be busy.
Despite the small portions of food, I had an overall pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason, I highly recommend going to the The Local Thai Restaurant in Paignton.

If you are a person of color be ready to be discriminated against, even though there are person of color serving in this place. Very old, unprofessional and rude staff run this place. Smells unpleasant and sweaty as you enter, similar to enclosed BYOB drinking spaces you would find in Thailand, Nepal and India. We were not served any food and I am sure it would have been spit on if we carried on ordering as they didn't want to serve us at all. We were simply not allowed to order what we wanted and were forced to order more. We simply got up and left after server engaged in a repetitive "they are not happy" conversation. I don't know who 'they' are. Have never had this experience in any Thai place or anywhere else for that...
Read moreThe Local Thai Sea Bass £ 13. 90 was beautiful and crispy although a little cool; easily remedied in the oven. Loved the sauce that came with it! The Mixed Starters for 2 included Chicken Skewers - a bit dry, Spring rolls = basic, and the fab Squid with some very tasty dipping sauces-= to die for! The Red Duck Curry had a good sauce with lots of vegetables. Sadly the duck was pre-cooked and then added to the sauce and was rather hard and dry. Certainly not worth £13.90. The two mains did not include rice which given the highly inflated prices it should do! So a mixed review. Would I choose to use the Local Thai again? On balance no. Some good bits but it cost over £46 and we, who are not big eaters, barely have...
