Friendlier to their regular locals than others. Many comments in recent reviews of how rude they can be - witnessed this myself. Give the impression that you’re bothering them instead of being happy for your custom. I understand all retailers in any business have had to increase their prices, but I still expect value for money. I paid £10 for chicken, stuffing and chips (19 of them to be precise) with a can of drink. Sauces are sold separately. The portion size would have been appropriate for a child. For 5 pence less, in Wetherspoons, I can get half a chicken, a pile of chips (which would be too many for me to even bother to count) with as much sauce as I care to take (for free) and any soft drink, in a glass - all this in comfortable surroundings with a professional and friendly service. I try to support local independent businesses as much as I can, but this place really need to try harder. They may have got away with being rude and giving a poor service in the past, but in today’s world with internet reviews and social media, there’s less chance of tourists visiting somewhere with a bad reputation - especially in a small seaside town with sadly, a growing trend of empty spaces where shops used to be.

I would not return here there was a large queue which fair enough but to queue so long for a small portion just wasnt worth it. I mean fair enough it was advertised as a kids nuggets and chips but with a long wait a few extra chips as an apology would of been lovely. The manager woman was also rude telling them to hurry up as she was going at 6 whether they were finished cleaning or not and they could stay all night, that fryer should be shut down already etc, all very unprofessional in front of customers which is a shame as the food is very nice but didnt appreciate the woman speaking to the staff like that. I felt for the guy trying the chips as that's not a way to be spoken to.

Arrived at 18.04, said they closed at 1900 on Google maps.. was told we can only have one sausage and chips. So we took that.. no curry sauce and when I asked for any sauce at all eg ketchup the women huffed and said you can have ketchup and that’s it!! She charged me £0.70 per ketchup even though was advertised at £0.40!! We then got my card out to pay and she said cash only or you ain’t having it, we payed cash and she walked out saying I ain’t taking any more of this shittt in a mood Very bad service Food was cold And will NOT be returning again solely due to the women on the till and her appalling attitude

Today myself, nanna and 2 brothers went to the Scoffs chippy in Torquay.. it was packed when we went in so we went to the back of the queue to wait for a seat, when it was our turn to sit down when a table became available a member of staff which was very rude came to our table with attitude and tried to tell us to move because which didn't queue which we did, so I politely explained that we had queued for 15 minutes and it was our turn to sit down and she carried on moaning and walked off. My nan is a pensioner who suffers from bad arthritis & diabetes. Also we was sat squeezed behind the door with an open window which was cold and damp as it was throwing it down with rain. When we finished our meal which we couldn't fully enjoy because people kept on staring at us from how the rude woman spoke to us and we felt rushed as the staff kept walking to the table with cleaning cloths while we was still eating. My nan went to the toilet and I was waiting to pay for the meal when the same rude member of staff shouted over to me infront of other customers and told me to leave because I wasn't in the queue for food, so I had to explain twice that I was waiting to pay for the meals. My nan really wasn't happy about the service so she asked me to get the manager so she can speak to her and all I kept getting off the rude member of staff was well tell me (shouting) I said my nan will explain and she shouted again and said well I am asking you. Which was really embarrassing as everyone was staring at us. I realise that it was busy however there is no reason why customers should be spoken to the way we were, what happened to service with a smile? The food on the other hand was lovely just a shame about...

Went in this afternoon (BH Monday) and expected it to be busy. We were able to pick a table, go and place our order with no issue (no kids fish bites but what can ya do, it had been busy all day)

Food turned up fairly quickly given how busy it was, the drinks didn't. We had to ask for the cup of tea and bottle of drink we ordered, the bottle of drink turned up and were told the tea was on its way.

After finishing our food, which was lovely, fish was tasty and the chips were like I've never had before, lightly battered perhaps? Very nice indeed.

The loss of two stars comes from this:

We asked the chap who had been serving us our food that since we'd finished, and be looking to leave soon, could we be refunded the money for the non existing Tea, perfectly reasonable I thought? The response was "oh it's taking its time because we are short staffed" hmmmm, I understand that, but we are no ready to leave (been here almost an hour) and we've not had it so would like a refund please, he walked off.

Next a lady came over and rather aggressively asked "Have you got a problem?" with her hand planted on the table! Now after we explained the situation, she was perfectly lovely about the whole thing and did indeed give us our Tea money back, but this was overly aggressive, we had children at the table too, just no need.

She again explained that a couple of staff had let them down today, that happens, I've worked in the hospitality trade, but what perhaps could have happened is reduce the amount of covers you accept at any one time to allow the service element to be upheld.

Would go back for the food, but not the service based on...

So me and my family went To this cafe on Easter Sunday we decided to have some of these chips. When my husband went to order, nobody told hi that we were not allowed to eat in. If we ordered from this Pacific counter so My daughter and my 4 month grandson went to sit down as my grandson was getting fussy and wanted to be feed. my husband was ordering food. My husband then went to come over and joined us and got screamed at by the man behind the counter. Say you can't eat them in here this Counter is takeaway only.. So my husband proceed to go outside and I carried on feeding my grandson. Then the rude waitress the old lady with grey hair behind the counter came over and started screaming at me that I could not feed My 4 month grandson as it was a busy restaurant and I hadn't ordered from the right counter. I proceed to tell her that I was going to feed my grandson. And if somebody had explained that we could have ordered from the. Right counter. and that I was not going to sit outside in the freezing cold and feed my grandson. I'm once I had finished feeding my grandson. I would leave. She then proceed to tell me that a cafe was no place to feed a child. By the time I got to eat my food it was cold 🥶 the old lad and the man were so Rude. I will never eat here again. Although the other staff were quite nice and polite and looked really awkward at the encounter. But I wouldnid1878 t waste your money and go to the nice little pub down. The road where the staff were welcoming and polite, where I only used the toilet to change my grandson. But they were so warm and inviting. We stayed...
