Properly cooked food, delicious coffee and friendly service make this cafe the place to enjoy a breakfast.
I've been here from time to time for a while now and especially enjoy their way with eggs. Fried eggs, scrambled and poached are all good. I've not yet tried the omelettes but seen other customers plates and they look good too. I'm a recent fan of Eggs Benedict, due to the lovely Hollandaise sauce over nicely poached eggs. Bacon is generally cooked crispier than in other places, but that suits me. And, perversely, I prefer the cheap sausages to their extra cost 'premium' sausages.
The service and staff are always excellent and must have been properly trained in the art of making coffee because it's of a quality you find in specialist coffee shops. The place is clean and brightly decorated with free wifi.
I have two criticisms: first, place is tiny and tables are crammed in but it's worth the inconvenience. Secondly, while the food is always good, sometimes it is very good or excellent - I think it depends on who's cooking. It would seem a bit harsh to take away a star for this but if I could, I'd down-rate the cafe by half a star for this...
Read moreI went for breakfast and the place was almost full ( it’s very tiny ). I ordered the full English breakfast with a water and an orange juice. The breakfast came after 40 minutes, maybe longer, the water and the orange juice never arrived at my table . I almost finished my breakfast, but, as I was thirsty, had to go to the counter to ask for at least the water, as I was about to finish eating. Then, when I ate everything, I asked to cancel the orange juice that was never brought to me. The device is shambolic, with the staff in the kitchen arguing with each other over the orders, never knowing who ordered what, bringing the wrong food order to each table , then asking to the customers what drink they ordered, and bringing the wrong order again. This happens to every table and the staff was going up and down with the wrong drinks sent back and forth . The breakfast itself was ok, but the fried eggs were so overcooked that no sign of red yolk was visible they were not nice at all. The sausages were a bit burnt, possibly a sign of the grill not being cleaned for a while. Shame, because the place looks cute, but birth food and service were...
Read moreI don’t know where to begin. The very act of writing this review makes me want to dry heave. My friend and I came into the establishment hoping to get a tasty breakfast as we were traveling through Brighton. All I can say is we left nauseous, scared, unsettle, and heavily disturbed. The waiter — who was also the cook — was completely off…. laughing at us, pretending to forget our food, lingering by our table, involving other customers in his bullying. His entire demeanour was incredibly off putting. I can’t tell if the nausea started because of his company or because of the raw eggs he served us. After ordering over easy eggs he shows up with a wet plate with wet, watering eggs — keep in mind this is all happening as he slying giggles and sways. we ate one egg — afraid he would ridicule and berate us if we didn’t. After the first egg I thought I was going to vomit…also the nerve endings in my teeth began to kill. we left immediately. It’s been 12 hours since this meal and i’ve been struggling all day. I am shaky, nauseous, and...
