Overall we got great food, but felt put on the spot by one employee.
Been Signals a fair few times in the past and always had fantastic food and fantastic service.
Today, we had one of our childs bike so decided to sit outside. Saw the sign outside that there was an app, which I always like to use technology, and bonus a discount for using it. The sign said scan the QR code. This I found on the tables inside, so scanned it and there was an option to change table number. The tables outside didn't have the numbers on, but there was only one other table occupied so picked a number.
Our drinks were brought out by one lady all fine, fantastic coffee. Our food than came out by a different lady, who straightaway confronted us by saying "can I ask, how did you order on the app outside". I explained I chose a different table. They continued saying that there isn't QR codes outside so they don't know whose ordering. We explained the options of outside tables are on the app, so if not allowed need removing or adding table numbers. Unfortunately it continued with comments making us feel we were in the wrong for using the app, or maybe for being outside in the rain by choice.
This experience was the first time we'd experienced this at Signals but has put a dampener...
Read moreI was absolutely disgusted with not only the food but the service. I took my 2 grandchildren aged 7 and 8. Firstly I asked for sausage chips and gravy, to be told we don’t have gravy !!!. I then ordered egg, chips 2 sausages, 1 sausage and chips, cheese and ham panini with chips. 2 children’s lemonade and cappuccino. This came to £36:55. When it arrived I was appalled, egg and 3 sausages on a side plate, 2 bowls of chips, I asked where is her sausage, to be told it’s on his plate, where do you ever go and they put 2 part meals one a plate. no offer of cutlery, I had to ask, to be told you get your own from over there. I had to scape raw cheese off my panini as it was half melted. Cheesy chips were all scrappy in the bottom. Man came and said I understand you are unhappy, you can take some cakes home fee of charge. Sorry but after that experience I don’t want to be insulted by an offer of cakes, could have at least offered to reduce my bill. I will not be going there again or advising anyone else to. I could have taken them to McDonalds and got a better experience and cheaper, because at that price I expected...
Read moreIn June 2016 it was my mum's 80th birthday. My sister and I chose to take her for a family meal at Signals, Saltburn. The service and food were excellent and the evening went really well. I contacted the restaurant in advance by email to ask some questions e.g. are children welcome on an evening? I received quick and helpful responses. I booked the table 2 months in advance. I checked the website for the menu and pre-ordered our meal choices by email. I liked the menu as it offered the chance to choose the sides and veg that went with the main. This is really useful when dining with fussy eater children! I called the day before to ask if we could take some banners and balloons in to decorate and our own cake. They said his was fine. I visited the restaurant on the afternoon of the meal (which was at 6pm) and the staff offered to put all the decorations up for us. When we arrived on the evening with my mum, she was thrilled to see our big photo banner and the decorations. During the meal, the staff were very patient with us and the children and we felt like valued customers. The food was delicious and the...
