I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mamma Mia's restaurant in Rochester, and I was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant is located in a charming old building in the heart of the city, and the interior is decorated in a traditional Italian style. The walls are adorned with frescoes of Italian scenes, and the tables are set with white linens and fresh flowers.
We were greeted by the manager, Tony, who was very friendly and welcoming. He made us feel like we were part of the family right away. He also gave us some great recommendations for dishes to try.
I started my meal with the whitebait, which was lightly battered and fried to perfection. The whitebait was served with a lemon wedge and a drizzle of olive oil. It was a light and refreshing way to start my meal.
For my main course, I ordered the salmon, which was grilled to perfection and served with a side of roasted vegetables. The salmon was moist and flavorful, and the vegetables were cooked just right. I also tried the chocolate tort for dessert, which was amazing. It was rich and decadent, and the perfect way to end my meal.
The service at Mamma Mia's was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure that we had everything we needed and that our meal was enjoyable.
Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Mamma Mia's. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was charming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Italian meal...
Read moreWent for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend on New year's eve and was abit disappointed. Good location in Rochester high street. We arrived no more than 15minutes before our booking and despite empty tables we were quite rudely shooed out the restaurant and told to come back at the right time. We had to sit on a bench opposite in the cold and dark for 15minutes only to be sat at one of the tables that had been empty anyway . Would've been happy not to be served or just have a drink till our time but served was quite rude. Tables were very close and lots of kids so we couldn't really hear eachother talking until they left which luckily wasn't too long after sitting. Our starter was really tasty and my boyfriend really enjoyed his pizza but my pasta was just very salty and I was abit disappointed. The chef walked around talking through the menu to each table which was nice but he also didn't seem to go back to the kitchen and was taking payments and helping serve and we felt like we were being upsold the specials and special cocktails alot from this . I think some gentle Italian music and a few less tables could do alot to improve the atmosphere especially when there's some lovely dishes like the ciabatta calamari...
Read moreI cannot recommend this place enough, especially for a special occasion. I recently organised a meal here for 24 people, and the whole experience was nothing short of exceptional. Large groups are asked to choose from an excellent, very reasonably priced set menu and to submit everyone's orders a few days in advance. We asked to make a few changes to the set menu to accommodate different tastes and a few allergies, and the restaurant did this for us at no extra cost. Children could choose whatever they wanted off the usual kid's menu. When bringing the food out staff asked for people by name, which I've never seen in a restaurant before but works so much better than shouting out the name of the dish. Inevitably people always forget what they've ordered, don't know the name of the dish etc. and things get muddled, so this was a much more effective way of doing things. I don't know the name of the gentleman who was in charge of our table, but he was hilarious. To top it all off the food was absolutely delicious. I'd absolutely recommend going here, whether you're going with one other...
