Raj of India - Rochester — Restaurant in England

I don't normally leave bad reviews but on this occasion, this is sadly gonna have to be the case. We had a sit-in meal this evening on Sunday 3rd October. Our starters were very good indeed, admittedly. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case when the mains arrived. It was diabolical! The whole thing tasted as if the oil the chef used hadn't been changed in a while. This reflected first in the chips as a side, and then onto the main curry itself. The meat was also "tough as old boots" as you tend to say. And why do these chefs insist on putting too much salt into out food?! I gave up with the meal after about half a dozen spoon/fork-fulls. After a bad experience with a local Indian Take away we had not had a curry for over a year. We decided to try the Raj of Rochester and we are really impressed. Everything was cooked to perfection highly authentic and delivered on time. The staff were very helpful and polite . We ordered a Lamb tikka and various rice side dishes and a saag aloo. The lamb was the best cuts with no fatty tissue, the saag aloo was the tastiest we had ever had and the potato was cooked properly ( a lot of indian take aways under cook potatoès which can give you stomach cramps) just the right balance of spices and spinach etc. It also has to be said their mint sauce is delicous!! Our first time coming to Raj of India (for myself, my first ever Indian! ) and we're so glad we did. Everything right from being able to make a booking, to us finishing was such an easy process and the food was delicious. The reviews made us a little apprehensive when reading dishes were overpowered by garlic, but this wasn't the case for us at all. You could taste each dish individually and the chicken was so tender !
