Very unaccommodating and not dog friendly. I am disabled and was in a lot of pain and really just needed somewhere to sit down. My dogs were saying hi to one of the other customers which the waiter didn’t agree with, the entire restaurant was otherwise empty and rather than trying to move us to somewhere more secluded he humiliated me publicly about my dogs.
We’ve been going to cafes for nearly a decade and everyone always loves meeting my dogs or those that don’t like dogs just simply don’t sit near us.
The other customer could have moved to sit somewhere else if the dogs were bothering them or we happily would have moved if we had been asked politely.
Instead we were humiliated, made to feel like a problem & then chose to leave rather than continue the embarrassment.
Given this treatment & lack of consideration for what could have been a very easily solved solution - I can see why this place is empty.
*edit based on owners response - just to clarify my dogs were on leads and were being well behaved. You can see in the owners response how rude they are to customers. If you look at the other lowest ratings you can also see them being rude to other people, telling them that their opinions are wrong or uneducated & consistently saying they’ve ‘never had one single complaint’ as a response to MULTIPLE complaints.
If you think my dogs are badly behaved for saying hi to people maybe you want to check your attitude towards potential customers because it is abrasive.
I also want to add that we were the first in an empty restaurant and specifically chose a corner where we didn’t feel we would be in anyone’s way. Another customer then arrived & chose the table next to us. That is their choice not ours. Having said that as above, we would have happily moved had we been treated with a single ounce of dignity...
Read moreThis was my first time having a Sunday roast, so I had nothing to compare it to but after posting the photos of my food 500 British people told me that by the looks of it it was the worst Roast they've ever seen.
The lamb was dry and in some parts indistinguishable from the bone. The Yorkshire pudding was mistaken and spongey. It took forever to saw through the roasted potatoes.
I've been encouraged to try another roast and not judge them all by my first forray.
Other food might be better but this is all I had, as the roasts are advertised outside
EDIT: you shouldn't review a food place based on a photo alone nor without finishing your plate my original questions after having the meal were: I bit the bullet and had my 1st Sunday roast in England, I didn't ask for any substitutions as recommended
I don't know what Yorkshire pudding is supposed to be, it has the consistency of what I think a clogged artery would be like if eaten. Spongey mishapen and dense
Is it not supposed to have a flavor? Like anything in the roast? (Serious question)
Is there a time of day where roasts are supposed to be fresh or is the food supposed to have a crust to it?

Read moreThank you for your Sunday lunch we had. It was nice. However, the restaurant was cold, you could turn the heating up to make it feel more comfortable.
Now the food. It was tasty, no doubt, but it was certainly not value for money. The portions were very small, I mean 1 tiny floret of broccoli each. ! small partly roasted potato, a quarter of a carrot and a quarter of a parsnip and not very big quarters at that!
The table asked for more potatoes and we were given more, 2 more in fact (cut in to half) and we were charged £3.50. That equates to £1.75 per small potato or £10.50 for the 6 potatoes we had at the table.
Come on. We were told about how good this was and we were allowed to bring our own wine, but when it said BYO I didn't think it also mean Bring Your Own Food!
I may be the economics of running an eatery nowadays, or just that people in Brighton are used to paying a lot for very little though this does seem the case with the people I have seen in this town.
Sorry, but won't be coming back, ether to this restaurant or this...
