Cannot say enough good things about the manager of Pizza Express Truro.
My partner is quite a picky eater and has recently spent about a month in hospital and had managed to get sick and tired of the food pretty quickly.
She called and spoke with the manager about her specific needs earlier in the day and was assured that it would be possible to make a pizza the way she had asked.
Flash forward to about 7pm and places the order online, but doesn't have the option to make the modifications to the meal she wants to make so I go to collect the food.
Arrive to a packed out restaurant - minimal staff, no chef, manager is running the kitchen and he's remembered the conversation and adapted the food from the order in the way he had agreed.
Now I've worked in hospitality, it's not easy to keep on top of all the many things that come at you, especially when you're short staffed and things haven't gone to plan and this guy managed to remember a small point about tomato allergies and bechemel sauce substitutions when he's literally doing 3 people's jobs.

We had to queue for about 6 minutes to be seated either though we had a reservation. The restaurant was cold and very bright, almost to bright. We had to wait over 20 minutes for our mains to come out and nobody checked on us in the mean time to give us an update on our order or to take another drinks order. During our time the manager sat down across from us and started chatting to another customer for over 10 minutes with his back to the whole restaurant, during this time we wanted to order more drinks and ask how long our mains would be. Eventually, the manager came back onto the floor, however, because he had been sat down for so long he started running food to the wrong tables and almost gave us another customers red wine. Read moreAfter trying and failing to get lunch at Charlottes around the corner we dropped in to try and get lunch here. A member of staff approached us within 30 seconds and asked if we had a reservation. We didn’t but I looked around and there was 1 table with four seats cleaned and ready and three other tables of four seats that had old dishes on but no one sitting at them. Upon telling the member of staff we didn’t have a reservation, we were told at 1:30pm they had no availability until 3pm!?! I again looked around the restaurant with the member of staff following my gaze but it seems if there is no incentives to turn tables around quickly, why should they bother!?!
