HUGE issue with the salmon sashimi, I'd rather have 3 thicker slices than 5 super teeny ones like I'd have fed to my dog whilst preparing it. Never again will I order this dish from here, or anywhere else for that matter. I'd rather freeze a salmon cut for a week then cut it up myself. Legit it looked like scraps left over from nice cuts of salmon, and to have spent that for what I ended up with is abysmal. Also it seems sometimes it's served one way, other times another. Personally I'd serve someone who's a first time customer (as far as you can see from delivery orders) my best cuts and have my dishes be reliably consistent.
That being said, the rolls were decent, in terms of the rice being obviously fresh, I would say they need to rolled tighter or with more seaweed, it barely wraps the rolls. Chopstick it the wrong angle without paying attention and it will fall apart, I had to feed my partner 😂
Rated atmosphere as 5 stars because I had a delivery, and don't want to tarnish any restaurant without experiencing it. And service is 5 stars because the delivery driver was ahead of time, and super friendly.
Every place has an off day, so I'll visit in person at some point and make a proper judgement, before I review on trip advisor or leaving a negative review. If this is the expectation in the UK, I'll open my own place and teach y'all 😂 The 'wasabi' is just funny, I shouldn't have expected...
Read moreThe restaurant is spacious and clean, but the traffic just outside its doors can be easily heard. There was no music of sorts playing, meaning it was uncomfortably quiet with just the passing traffic to listen to. Customer service is a bit lacking, possibly due to language barriers.
Choice of drinks seems somewhat limited, consisting mostly of coffee, tea, water, or your typical Coca-Cola or Sprite. The sushi menu doesn't have the biggest selection you will ever see, and some of the sushi is very westernised and not exactly cheap.
The wait for the food was surprisingly long, considering me and my partner were the only ones in the restaurant with no Deliveroo orders as far as I could tell... although they did only have one chef working.
The glasses and dishes were very clean. The sushi arrived neatly placed with generous amounts of "wasabi" and pickled ginger. Overall the sushi was very good with fresh ingredients, definitely better than the likes of YO!Sushi and Nippon Inn in terms of flavour, but as mentioned it was still quite expensive for what it was. I would personally order everything without cream cheese as it dulls the flavour of the other ingredients.
Our order (everything in the photo, 1 bottle of Coke and 1 bottle of Sprite)...
Read moreI took my kids to Shark Tail 3 weeks ago for a treat. We were all really excited to go out for dinner - let's just say it had been quite a long time. I was also hopeful that a Google average of 4.6 meant that we would get great food.
Unfortunately I found the food generally very disappointing. We had a selection of hot starters - spring rolls, fried shrimps, miso soup. The miso was fine, the deep fried stuff didn't taste good. Tasted like cheap frozen food.
We then ordered the 205 set sushi and some edamame beans. The beans were nice. The sushi was not. Too stodgy, the rice Vs everything else ratio isn't right - too much rice and very little salmon. Plus they had what tasted like big knobs of butter in some them. I think it may have been cream cheese, but it was bizarre and gross. I wish I'd noticed before I ordered. I've never seen this on sushi in my life and it's not a good combo, so be careful. Sushi, in my opinion, should leave the pallette feeling clean and crisp. Big globs of dairy do the opposite.
Overall it's a nice enough place with lovely people running it. I hope that things improve so that I can give it another go in a few years time, but for now I'll be giving the restaurant...
