Tasty Polish / Eastern European small plates priced at £10-15. A typical drinks selection, gothic decor and bustling atmosphere.
Visited on a Friday evening for a birthday weekend dinner, drawn in by the Polish menu items and positive reviews.
The pub has a gothic vibe, dimly lit, with candelabra's on the tables and eceltic art and other adornments. It was quite busy when we arrived, filled with the typical Friday night after work crowd. As the night progressed the age of the clientele dropped and we were left with a crowd much younger and trendier, smoking and congregating on the tables outside. The service was friendly and attentive and we ordered drinks and meals directly from our table.
The menu isn't extensive, consisting mainly of the aforementioned small plates. Options included Perogi, Bigos, Potato Rosti, Chicken Kiev, Kielbasa and other Polish fare. There are plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options and alternatives.
I ordered Perogi and Potato Rosti. The food was tasty and enough to accompany the pints I was enjoying but far from a 'full meal'. I would recommend 2-3 small plates if your hunger matches mine. There are side options such as sauerkraut and potatoes if needed.
The beer menu was typical, with some ales, lagers and IPAs. There was a cocktail menu and when ordering a G&T they ask for your preferred tonic and Gin. I would have liked to see one or two exotic beer options such as a sour, heavier IPA or polish beer. I also wasn't overjoyed to pay £6.90 per pint but this is unfortunately a common occurrence in Brighton.
All up, I would say the Farm Tavern is good for a visit, accompanied by 1 or 2 pints and a small plate. However, if you're craving Polish or Eastern European food there are more comprehensive...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting The Farm Tavern in Brighton for Sunday lunch, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The cozy atmosphere, combined with the friendly and attentive staff, set the perfect scene for a memorable meal. I opted for the pork belly roast, and it was absolutely divine. The pork belly was cooked to perfection, with a crisp, flavorful crackling and succulent meat that practically melted in my mouth.
The dish was complemented by all the classic trimmings, including crispy roast potatoes, a velvety celeriac puree, and a vibrant serving of spiced red cabbage that added a delightful pop of color and taste to the plate.
Not only was the food top-notch, but the atmosphere also made the experience special. We were seated inside, and the gothic-inspired decor added a unique charm to the experience. The interior features dark wooden walls, dim lighting, and an eclectic mix of vintage and gothic elements that create a warm yet dramatic ambiance. The pub is filled with rich, deep colors and ornate details that make it feel like a cozy, historic retreat.
The Farm Tavern, located just off the main strip on Farm Road, truly masters the art of a traditional Sunday roast, making it a must-visit spot in Brighton for anyone looking to enjoy a hearty, delicious meal in a welcoming setting with a distinctive gothic...
Read moreLovely! We received such a warm welcome from the team at The Farm. We were a large group with a mix of kids, adults, dogs, vegans, gluten-free-ers and meat eaters and we were all catered for beautifully (the dog even had her own doggie roast dinner!). I wouldn't say it's the best roast I've ever eaten - that's quite a big statement - but it's certainly a delicious plate of food. The puddings, however, are out of this world. I genuinely dreamed about my creme egg brownie last night, it was indulgent and delicious. The welcome is really what makes this pub unique. The boss lady (I didn't catch her name but she has amazing pink hair) is so friendly and accommodating. She and the rest of the team went above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable, happy, full and having a good time. It was genuine good service, not at all saccharine or smarmy. It seemed a matter of personal pride to them that we had a great time. We did. We will be back and will recommend to anyone who'll listen. Thank you The Farm for a lovely...
