The Prince Arthur, Windsor — Restaurant in England

Definitely the worst service we have ever experienced. I don’t know if it’s due to lack of training/inexperience or is simply down to rude and incompetent staff. My wife and I arrived at 6:40pm on a Thursday evening, we hadn’t booked a table but the pub still had several tables free. We enquired if they were serving food this evening and was told that yes they were but due to a large table of 20 who were already seated the kitchen would be temporarily closed for half an hour whilst this order was dealt with and to come back at 7:10 to order, we were given menus to peruse and ordered drinks. I ordered a pint of Guinness which as normal was poured 2/3rds and left to settle. The member of staff then walked away and didn’t return, 5 minutes later I was still waiting for my pint to be finished topping up, another member of staff noticed me standing there and asked if they could help, they then topped up my pint. My wife and I sat there for a while with our drinks, another couple came in at 6:50 and sat at a reserved table, they were obviously locals as they spoke to several other people already there. At 7pm one of the bar staff came out to this couple and took their food order. I had finished my pint so a few minutes later I went to the bar and asked if I could place our food order now and some more drinks. The chap then said it could be another half hour or an hour before he could take our order! I said but you’ve just taken an order from this couple who came in after us, he said that was because they had booked a table????? I said we were told it would be a half hour wait and that my wife really needed to eat something or she would feint, he just smiled and said there was nothing he could do. I have never received such poor service and simply left in disgust, we had just wasted 40 minutes and obviously couldn’t trust them to be honest about when we could expect to be served, perhaps locals get different treatment. We found another pub not too far away The Windsor Castle who were absolutely brilliant and the food was fabulous, wish we had gone...

Met some friends here on a Friday night recently, was pleasantly suprised with the decor, it almost seems untouched from days gone by, but with a clean and modern twist. Decided to have some food while we waited.........well, absolute knock out taste sensation and I only had a burger....! Very comprehensive menu and full bar, absolute great little pub in the heart of Windsor, well worth a visit.

Only issues I had was with parking and staff.

Parking is non-existent, only street parking in a heavy residential area, but this is Windsor. Staff, pleasant enough, but no real eye contact, no smiling happy faces, as if they didn't want to be there, which was proven when they decided to shut the bar at 10:30 on a Friday night in Windsor, couldn't belive it, when I asked if there was ANYTHING I could have, the response was, no, sorry, all the tills are shut......not even a glass of water!!! Upon checking the website, it did say 23:00, so was disappointed, I felt it was a polite way of asking us to leave..... Moral of this story is you have a great place, real gem, but if you don't like late nights, don't work...

I have long frequented the pub and always loved its wonderfully decorated interior and cosy well appointed garden / courtyard. I recently held a 50th birthday party here and exclusively hired the whole venue. Bobby and his team of staff were brilliant - simply couldn't do enough and so professional. From the point of planning to implementation they were stars. They helped decorate the pub linked up TVs to show pictures and connected our playlists for the 100 guests to enjoy. The chefs put on a unique summer BBQ menu and cooked everything fresh. The food was stunning and a real highlight. We also had a band outside playing into the evening and everyone rocked the night away.

Every guest mentioned the quality of service, the friendliness of the staff and how tasty the food was. It was an exemplary experience. Cannot praise the pub and the whole Prince Arthur...
