Few restaurants seem to price the food correctly in Exeter, premium prices are charged for food that is not that expensive to purchase.
Over £6 per pint for beer is ridiculous, burgers costing £10-£20 with no fries, ridiculous! Fries cost around £5 extra minimum.
Having myself worked in 4 and 5 star hotels when younger, I find the attitude of most the staff at Brewdog to be very poor at customer service, unwelcoming and looked stressed.
The waitress/desk host who was manning the front door of a 75% full restaurant, looked at me as if I'm stupid for politely asking "I was just passing by and wandered If she has a table for 5?", her reply was "Have you booked a table?", to which I said no and just assumed she's not listening, I'm hardly going to be passing by if I've directly booked a table lol.
It was around 1715, as the hostess started looking for a table for us with a clear attitude that we are inconveniencing her, I spotted a bench table empty with a 1900 reserved slot on it, as she returned to me still looking reluctant to help, I said what about this table over here, I'd guess we'd be finished by 1900, as it's only 1715 etc?
Alas we were told we can't sit at that table as it's reserved for 1900, again I'm already aware of the time lol.
So she then looked like she'd solved the problem and hurriedly lead us to a bar stool table, told us to sit there and she turned to run off, alas not being shy having instantly noticed that there was only space for 4 chairs, I paused her retreat verbally by saying we are 5, this has 4 seats, amazingly she could do the maths required now and looked around the restaurant looking confused and annoyed lol.
I then said, "Look if you've got no tables we can go, I'm not bothered." To which I then got lead to the table I'd mentioned earlier that was reserved at 1900.
Having never been to Brewdog, I asked how we order, got told to order on the app and if we were not finished by 1900, we'd have to get off the table, lovely customer service lol.
Anyway, ordered the painfully expensive food and drink for 5 people, £6.20 (minimum) for a pint of beer is ridiculous, the burgers were nice but overpriced and the food was as good as slung on the table by this dizzy and rude hostess, thankfully I didn't have to deal with her again, she'd gone to be equally rude to other customers.
Any way, I don't usually leave bad reviews for restaurants, as I know hospitality work is hard, but Brewdog's only plus was the food. As for everything else, poorly run, bad customer service and overpriced.
The fact that Brewdog makes its own beers, would make you think that the beer would be reasonably priced, but alas no.
Rest assured Brewdog I'll not be back and no need to reply below, I'm not interested in the generic replies your PR teams put on the reviews online, it means nothing.
Train your staff properly and stop taking the piss with...

Well, where do I even begin? BrewDog Exeter was a delightful experience from start to finish—if you’re looking to be thoroughly disappointed. First off, the in-store paper menu and the online menu were completely out of sync. Because who doesn’t love a good guessing game when they go out to eat?
Then came the joy of ordering online. Despite the allure of modern technology, BrewDog managed to take it back a few decades. Slow, clunky, and missing prices, the online ordering system really kept us on our toes. And don’t be fooled by the promise of Apple and Google Pay. You still have to jump through the hoop of creating an account and linking a card. Nothing says “convenient” like a few extra steps, right?
The pièce de résistance, though, was when we were informed of a charming 45-50 minute wait for a couple of burgers. At that point, we decided we’d had our fill—of waiting, not food—and left.
So, if you’re in the mood for a test of patience and a dash of false advertising, BrewDog Exeter’s your place. For anyone else, I’d recommend just about anywhere else nearby for a more “boring” but satisfying meal.
UPDATE; It’s been two weeks since I emailed the Brewdog team at hello@brewdog.com, and I’m still waiting for a reply. The wait is starting to feel eerily similar to the one I experienced for my burgers—long and with no end in sight.
I get that good things take time, but surely a response to feedback doesn’t need to be slow-cooked, right? Looking forward to hearing back whenever they are ready—or perhaps I’ll hear from them before my...
Read moreI’ve been to Brewdog Exeter lots of times. Booked in for wings Wednesday with 4 of us. It was a fairly busy evening but we got our food and it was super tasty, hot, everyone enjoyed it - Korean wings being back on the menu is amazing! One of us ordered a top up of the wings - everyone else already full (!) and we waited, and waited. We saw the table next to us get two wing top ups and a dessert in the time we were waiting for one wing top up. It was really hard to get any service to ask but we did eventually and in the time we were waiting (about 45 minutes at this point) they had run out of the Korean wings and we had to get something else, which was disappointing. We then waited and waited for these. They had been delivered to the wrong table. By the time we got them we didn’t even want them and we had spent 3 hours at the restaurant and had one round, which when the whole point of the price of the wings is that they’re bottomless…. Food is always tasty, and the staff serving are always friendly and nice, but brewdog exeter, you seriously need more front of house staff on so people can actually get the service...
