We had a lovely time afternoon on Sunday for afternoon tea, it was a gloomy October day but by the time we had left the sun was shining and we were very full. Of course the location is amazing - we had a great view of eth cathedral from our upstairs table which made the experience that bit more special. Oliver was very friendly and quickly got us drinks and when I changed my mind he didn't bat an eyelid. Prosecco and non alcoholic beer, tea and hot chocolate and possibly the best jug of water we have ever had - with mint, lemon and raspberries - amazing. The sandwiches soon arrived, 4 smoked salmon and 4 Coronation chicken accompanied by a huge pile of perfectly dressed salad - this was all excellent. and then the cakes... wow. They were also all presented so beautifully The scones are perfect, so light and so taste, nice and warm - 2 types of jam and plenty of cream. There was an amazing selection of the tastiest and most indulgent cakes and macarons. Each one a flavour bomb. There was no way we could finish it all so we were presented with a box so nothing was wasted. The service was exemplary - the attention of the waitress just right, she really looked after us alongside Oliver. If I have a criticism maybe the décor could do with a refresh – the quality of the servcie and food is such that you expect everything to be the highest of standards but this is a small criticism. I also think it is tremendous value - £25 with the prosecco and £30 with, we have spent far more and had far worse. I would recommend 100% - we will go back again but maybe in the summer when it is warmer. Thank you all for such a lovely experience.

After being turned down by two other locations we phoned Tea on the Green to see if it was worth walking over. They managed to accomade us within 15 minutes of us calling. Friendly staff on arrival. Characterful building in pleasant location. We were seated upstairs looking over the green onto the cathedral itself. Ordered four Sunday lunches. Beef, lamb, and chicken all come highly recommended though the pork looked delicious too. Our waitress was helpful and had a great, welcoming personality. Two out of the four of us managed to squeeze in a desert. Both the sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess were divine topping of the Sunday Roasts. However cream teas ordered by neighbouring table caught my eye as looked fabulous would love to return for those! It's worth going out of your way a bit to try here. Ring ahead to check for availability as quaint place where customers are not rushed. Many thanks to all.

Really lovely glad we booked as it was getting very busy (probably last nice Sunday we are getting for a while) sitting outside would be amazing but very glad we had a little nook in the corner by the window prefect space for the 3 of us with a wheelchair Ortho small inside we had plenty of space between us Now the breakfast not cheep but worth every penny for the ulster breakfast it's difficult getting good hogs pudding and this was very good soda bread a little dry but really didn't matter at all potato cake spot on Only real complaint would be the beans on the plate not in a ramekin but that's personal choice My home made lemonade was lovely and my wife has said we have to go back for the smoothie she had with her gluten free full English was prefect

Walked in and gave it the benefit of the doubt, as we went on recommendation. Upon arrival, some might call it cosy, but looking back it was dingy and had an old smell to it that could be likened to a wet dog towel that had been left in the car for a week.

Anyways, I sit down with my mum and the server told me I could order from the extras menu and make my own breakfast due to a stomach condition. He then sent another server over, and she told me that wasn’t allowed, and I would have to pay the full £12 for the breakfast only to deduct everything and end up with bacon on toast. I proceeded to explain. I order bacon on toast and my mum orders egg on toast with some extra bacon… (£8 might I add- I almost hoped the chicken had laid golden eggs for that price). She brings out our food, and my mum politely reminds her that she ordered bacon, as the only bacon to be seen are two slices on my own plate. The server proceeds to tell us that we are to SHARE the two slices been given to me… for MY bacon on toast. So again, she asks for extra bacon. The server brings out a rather large plate with a comically small SINGLE slice of bacon. Yes. One rasher.

We eat, and get the bill, to be charged close to £25… I asked if that was correct, to which I was told yes… apparently it’s normal to charge £2 per slice of bacon these days. I was told by the server that it’s not her restaurant and she’s not responsible, which of course is true. So I begrudgingly pay the bill. Walk outside the restaurant and unfortunately was so appalled at your prices that I had to go back in to speak to a manager and let him know about this daylight robbery. To which, he didn’t really care, and said all the right things to get rid of us. He proceeded to tell me that it does say extra bacon costs £2, but what the menu FAILS to tell you, is it’s £2 for one single rasher. You could go to any up market eatery, and “extra” bacon will always by default mean at least 2 slices. I will never ever, recommend anyone to eat here. Your prices are appalling and the breakfast was mediocre at best. If you like stone cold toast, and paying through the nose for less than a child portion then this is the place for you. And not to mention, staff who actually couldn’t give a rats arse about...

Been here a lot in the past and always enjoyed the food, the owner is a really nice guy and always talks and is really friendly, Today I visited with a couple of friends, they had never been here before so I talked them into trying it, we approached and asked a young man for a table who came across a little rude and slightly aggressive which was strange but we sat down anyway, we had our drinks order took from a polite and very friendly blonde girl who was smiling and very helpful, however.... after being there for a few minutes the same young man approached and said I wasn’t allowed to be vaping outside, which is fair enough. Again he was very rude and we all looked at each other strangely but didn’t take much notice as we thought it might have been a language barrier. The second time I completely forgot about the no vaping and he came across started shouting and being extremely aggressive, insulted me asking if I was stupid and do I need a sign!! We waited for a second then agreed that he was extremely rude and no need for it, we got up abruptly and left, I won’t be going back again, I was very offended and it ruined a nice day! I just hope for the restaurants sake he doesn’t carry on pushing...
